A combination of information and experience: How the chemistry between Abhigyan Jha and Sumit Kaul works for FSex

Producer Abhigyan Jha teamed up with his actor-friend Sumit Kaul, and the duo are headlining the former’s show, FSex, The Free Speech Experiment. They discuss various topics in front of a live audience picked on the spot by the audience. Abhigyan shared that the show works for them because they complement each other and present the conversation in the most raw and authentic way.

He said, “When Sumit and I decided to launch FSex, we weren’t chasing a trend—we were responding to a need. A need for authentic, unprepared, live conversations that stems from a life lived in deep awareness. What allows us to speak spontaneously, confidently, and without a script is simple – we pay attention to our lives. We have known each other for five years now, and we discovered that we had both been living with awareness. It means every interaction, observation, and emotion we encounter has been consciously processed. So when someone throws a topic at us live, chances are we’ve lived it, questioned it, formed an opinion about it, or been open enough to change our mind about it.”

“Sumit often says that I come from information, and he comes from experience. And he’s right. I consume data from books, research, news—everything. I absorb, dissect, challenge, and sometimes discard it. Sumit, on the other hand, processes life in real time. A conversation, a moment, an argument—all become raw material for deep reflection. And when someone truly pays attention to their own experiences, those experiences become their source of truth. It’s fascinating to witness,” he added.

Sumit added that there are two common elements that work in his communication with Abhigyan. He said, “The first element is that we both come from a place of strong Integrity which ensures that we never become personal in our remarks however heated the discussion might get.”

“The second element is that our purpose to communication is constant discovery and search for the truth and we don’t see the discussion as a competitive endeavour to be won or to create dominance over the other,” he added.

Taking us through the topics they have discussed on FSex, Abhigyan mentioned that one of the most powerful episodes was a discussion on marriage, which was, of course, completely unplanned, but how the duo came to the same conclusion despite being in completely different scenarios.

“Sumit approached it from the joy of witnessing his parents’ successful marriage. I approached it from the pain of watching my parents’ relationship crumble. Different lives but the same conclusion: marriage matters,” Abhigyan said.

Abhigyan did mention that it’s not always that they agree but emphasized that their disagreements are anchored in considered thought, not ego.

“And yes, we differ— on topics like spirituality and technology. For Sumit, evolution means liberation from the cycle of life and death, with salvation as the highest goal. I, on the other hand, believe in creation and rebirth. I find meaning in this life, in the cycle itself. Yet, even in disagreement, we don’t cancel each other. We listen. We learn. That’s what makes FSEX honest. It’s not a debate. It’s not clickbait. It’s two people arriving at truth from different roads. And sometimes, the destination surprises even us,” Abhigyan ended
