1. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has reached the United Arab Emirates. He will co-chair the 14th India-UAE Joint Commission Meeting and the third India-UAE Strategic Dialogue with the Foreign Minister of UAE Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

2. The Vedic Planetarium Temple in Mayapur, West Bengal will soon become the world’s largest religious monument. Currently, the largest religious monument in the world is Angkor Wat, a huge Buddhist temple complex located in northern Cambodia.

3. Indian man arrested for espionage returns home after 28 yrs in Pak jail:. A 59-year-old Indian man who was arrested by Pakistani agencies in 1994 and awarded a life term by a court on espionage charges has returned home. The man, Kuldeep Yadav, was released last week by Pakistan Supreme Court upon completion of his jail term. Yadav was received by Indian officials and his brother on the Indian side of the border.

4. Jhansi BJP MP from the Jhansi-Lalitpur parliamentary constituency, Anurag Sharma has been elected as the International Treasurer of the Parliamentary Association Conference (CPA) at the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Conference in Halifax, Canada.

2. The International Day for People of African Origin is observed every year on 31 August to celebrate the enormous contribution of the African diaspora in the field of human endeavour. The United Nations observed the first-ever International Day for People of African Origin on 31 August 2021.

No state funeral for the ex-president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. Gorbachev’s funeral will reportedly take place inside Moscow’s House of Unions and he will likely be buried at the city’s Novodevichy Cemetery.
