1. US President Donald Trump has once again publicly claimed credit for brokering the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan, asserting that he leveraged trade as a means to prevent further conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

2. Kaveri turbofan undergoing tests at Gramov Flight Research Institute (GFRI) in Russia. The Kaveri engine, developed by India’s Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) within the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is undergoing trials at the Gromov Flight Research Institute (GFRI) in Russia.

3. The Indian government has directed IndiGo, the country’s largest airline, to terminate its aircraft lease agreement with Turkish Airlines within three months, signalling a strong response to Turkey’s recent public support for Pakistan amid heightened geopolitical tensions in South Asia.

4. Russia has vowed to continue its military campaign in Ukraine until the underlying causes of the conflict are resolved and peace agreements are formally ratified. Chairman of the Russian State Duma’s Defence Committee Andrey Kartapolov ruled out any unconditional ceasefire, stating that Moscow would continue its assault unless a formal lasting agreement is signed between the two countries.

5. Columbia has officially withdrawn its statement that was issued expressing condolences on the loss of lives in Pakistan after the Indian strikes during the Operation Sindoor. This statement came after a meeting of all-party delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, with Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio in Columbia.

6. India and Brazil strengthened bilateral ties at the ShangriLa Dialogue 2025, reaffirming commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and Admiral Aguiar Freire, Chief of Staff of Brazil Armed Forces, discussed shared values and interests, underscoring the importance of a rules-based international order and a growing convergence of views between both countries on regional and global issues.

1. Russia officially rejected what it described as “fake reports” about the expansion of its economic ties with Pakistan, specifically regarding joint efforts to establish new steel mills in Karachi.These reports, widely circulated in Pakistani media.

2. Pakistan’s decision to upgrade its diplomatic representation in Afghanistan by appointing an Ambassador, the first since the Taliban’s takeover in August 2021, marks a significant milestone in the evolving relationship between the two countries.The announcement was made by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday.

3. In Pakistan, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) freedom fighters claimed to have taken complete control of Surab city in the Balochistan province, paralysing all military, administrative and financial structures of the state.

4. Recent studies indicate that glaciers are melting faster than anticipated. This alarming trend coincides with the first United Nations conference on glaciers held in Tajikistan. The research suggests that limiting global warming to 1.5°C can preserve glacier ice compared to current trajectories. If climate policies remain unchanged, the world could warm by 2.7°C, leading to catastrophic glacier loss.
