1. Like Kho-Kho and Kabaddi, Dahi Handi has now been given the status of a game in Maharashtra. It will be considered as a type of adventure sports. Highlights Chief Minister Eknath Shinde told in the Vidhan Sabha that Govindas who join Dahi Handi will be given benefits of government schemes, 5 percent reservation in government.
2. Hong Kong have qualified for Asia Cup 2022 after winning all their three matches in the Qualifiers. Hong Kong will meet India and Pakistan in Group A of the main tournament. India will face Hong Kong on August 31, while Pakistan will face Hong Kong on September 2. The Asia Cup 2022 will begin on August 27.
3. BWF World Championships: Satwiksairaj, Chirag Shetty script history, secure India’s 1st medal in men’s doubles. India’s Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, on Friday, August 26, defeated Japan’s Yugo Kobayashi and Takuro Hoki 24-22, 15-21, 21-14 in the quarterfinals of the men’s doubles in the BWF World Championships.
