An Ugandan national who was found living illegally in Bengaluru for over 16 years was deported on July 27.

Bosco Kawesi, who claimed to be a prominent African in Bengaluru, was also found in possession of 26 passports of African nationals, out of which 24 had expired visas, police said. Police are now probing Kawesi’s involvement in human trafficking.

1. The US President Joe Biden has again tested positive for Covid-19. His doctor has described it as a rebound infection.

2. Sri Lanka has allowed a Chinese research vessel to dock at the Hambantota port next month. The port, located in the hometown of the Rajapaksa family, has been developed largely with Chinese loans.

3. A charitable fund founded by Britain’s Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, accepted a donation from slain al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden’s family in 2013, a UK media report claimed on Sunday.

4. The headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea fleet in Crimea’s Sevastopol came under a drone attack on Sunday, the country said. As per Russian authorities, six personnel were injured in the attack on the naval command. Russian officials believe that a commercial drone was used for the attack.

5. 5.5 magnitude earthquake strikes Nepal on Sunday, no casualties reported.

6. The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant-Khorasan (ISIL-K) seeks to recruit fighters from other terror outfits to amplify its capabilities, a UN report has said.
