pm modi unveils national emblem on new parliament building

1. PM Modi unveiled the National Emblem cast on the roof of the New Parliament Building on 11 Jul.

2. Parameswaran Iyer took charge as the new Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog. A 1981-batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, Mr Iyer has worked with both the public and private sectors.

3. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari today said Dwarka Expressway is being developed as the first elevated urban expressway in India.

The Expressway connecting Dwarka in Delhi to Gurugram in Haryana is being developed at a total cost of 9,000 crore rupees with a total length of 29 km out of which 19 km length falls in Haryana while the remaining 10 km of length is in Delhi.

4. Supreme Court will hear the permanent medical bail plea of Varavara Rao, an accused in the 2018 Bhima Koregaon case, on Tuesday, July 12. Activist and poet Rao has challenged the judgement of the Bombay High Court which rejected his plea for permanent bail.

5. *DELHI* govt on Monday launched a 15-day plantation drive in the national capital. The ‘Van Mahotsav’ plantation drive started from the Central Ridge and will conclude with the planting of one lakh saplings at the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary on July 25, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said

6. *HIMACHAL* : Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurated a PSA Oxygen Plant at Civil Hospital Taunidevi in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh with an investment of about one crore rupees

9. *MAHARASHTRA* : The Supreme Court directed the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker to keep in abeyance the disqualification proceedings initiated against the members of Shivsena amid the ongoing political developments in the state.

The Apex Court directed the Speaker not to decide on the disqualification notices till the court rules on them. Both the rival camps of Shivsena, led by former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and current Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, have initiated disqualification proceedings against the MLAs belonging to the rival camps.

10. The Supreme Court on Monday said the Centre is bound to honour its commitment given to Portugal and release gangster Abu Salem on completion of his 25-year sentence in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.

Salem, a convict in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, was extradited from Portugal on November 11, 2005, after a prolonged legal battle. Salem had said his sentence could not exceed 25 years as per a solemn assurance given by India to Portugal for his extradition in 2002.

12. *PUNJAB* CM Bhagwant Mann announced that the proposed 1,000-acre textile park project near Ludhiana’s Mattewara forest has been cancelled. He further said that no industry will be allowed to come up on the river banks of Punjab to avoid any sort of water pollution

13. *RAJASTHAN* : The provocative statements by clerics/ Khadims of Khwaja Garib Nawaz, against suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma have hit devotees’ footfall in AJMER, which has also impacted the business of local vendors at AJMER SHARIF DARGAH. The local vendors say they have faced a 90% loss in their business.

14. *UTTAR PRADESH*: CM Yogi says Population Control Program must go ahead successfully, but at the same time, there should be no population imbalance. He says there is need for connecting ppl with Population Control Programs, irrespective of their cast, language or religion.

15. *WEST BENGAL* : Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani on 11 Jul inaugurated the underground Sealdah Metro Railway station of East West Metro corridor in the city through virtual mode from Howrah Maidan station.

The service is now available between Sector V and Phoolbagan in the city and will be extended by 2.33 km. The extended service of the East West Metro up to Sealdah on its 9 km truncated route will start commercially from Thursday.

1. ITR : the last date for filing income tax returns is 31st July 2022. After that a penalty for filing ITR.

2. Supreme Court has awarded a punishment of a 4-month jail term to fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya along with Rs 2,000 fine in a 2017 contempt of court case.

The apex court also asked Mallya to deposit back $40 million with interest within four weeks and if he fails to do so it would lead to attachment of properties.

3. Enforcement Directorate has attached assets worth 14 crore rupees in the Morris Coin Crypto Currency cheating case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. ED has initiated an investigation on the basis of various FIRs registered against Nishad and other persons for cheating people on the pretext of giving high returns to the investors.

4. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has fined three co-operative banks for non-compliance with certain guidelines. Nasik Merchant’s Co-operative Bank was fined ₹50 lakh as it continued to accept fresh deposits in existing accounts of other non-scheduled urban co-operative banks. Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank was fined ₹37.5 lakh and The National Central Cooperative Bank in Bihar ₹2 lakh.

5. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday unveiled a system for international trade settlements in the Indian rupee. The new system will be put in place to “promote the growth of global trade” and “support the increasing interest of the global trading community in INR”, RBI said. The system allows for invoicing, payment and settlement of exports/imports in INR

2. Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court has issued summons to ‘Kaali’ filmmaker Leena Manimekalai and asked her to appear before the court on August 6. The petition, filed by Advocate Raj Gaurav, claims that the film’s poster depicting a Hindu goddess smoking has hurt religious sentiments. The plea also seeks a permanent and mandatory injunction against the filmmaker.
