1. PM Modi had a telephonic conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. They exchanged ideas on how bilateral trade in agricultural goods, fertilizers and pharma products could be encouraged further. The leaders discussed global issues, including the state of the international energy and food markets.

2. India supplied the seventh batch of medical assistance to Afghanistan, consisting of six tons of essential medicines. This is part of India’s ongoing humanitarian assistance. It was handed over to the Indira Gandhi Hospital in Kabul.

7. India on Friday called on Pakistan to release and repatriate 536 Indian fishermen and three civilian prisoners. India made the demand as the two countries exchanged lists of fishermen and prisoners under an agreement.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) handed over a list of 309 Pakistani civilian prisoners and 95 fishermen in India’s custody to Pakistan.

1. Ukraine and Russia carried out their largest prisoner exchange since the start of the conflict on February 24. 144 Ukrainians aged 19 and 65 years returned home as a result of the exchange. Under the swap, Russia released 59 soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine

2. Sri Lanka: 22 train services cancelled as railway guards unable to report to work due to lack of fuel.

3. In Sri Lanka, the bus fare has been increased by 22% from Thursday midnight.

4. Israel is set for election on the 1st of November as lawmakers dissolved the parliament on 30 June. It will be the fifth election for Israelis in less than four years.

5. The Israeli parliament, the Knesset, voted 92-Nil, bringing an end to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s run as premier– one of the shortest terms in Israeli history.

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid will take over as caretaker prime minister under the terms of a coalition agreement made between the outgoing Prime Minister and Lapid last year.

6. Ferdinand Marcos Jr has been sworn in as the President of the Philippines in Manila. He succeeded the outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte. Sara Duterte, the daughter of the outgoing president, is being sworn in as vice-president.

7. Ecuador President Guillermo Lasso has survived an impeachment vote after the opposition failed to gather enough votes to oust him. The motion garnered 80 votes in the 137-member Congress on 30 June.

8. NATO member Turkey has agreed to support Sweden and Finland’s membership of the alliance. It had initially opposed the Nordic countries’ bids to join.

9. First batch of 5300 Monkeypox vaccine doses delivered to Spain by the European Commission.

10. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) appealed for 42.6 million US dollars in aid to help millions that have been affected by the drought in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia.
