INTERNATIONAL NEWS

1. PM Modi attending two-day 14th BRICS Summit hosted by China. The summit will be held in virtual format under the theme of Foster High-quality BRICS Partnership.

Addressing the BRICS Business Forum, PM Narendra Modi said that the value of the Indian digital economy will reach $1 trillion by 2025. The kind of digital transformation that is taking place in India has never been seen anywhere in the world earlier, he added. The forum was held ahead of the 14th BRICS Summit from June 23 to 24.

2. Chinese President Xi Jinping will also chair a High-Level Dialogue on Global Development with guest countries on 24th of June.

3. PM Modi will be on a three-day visit to Germany and UAE beginning 26th of this month. Mr. Modi will visit Schloss Elmau, Germany for the G-7 Summit under the German Presidency on 26th and 27th of this month.

4. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will be on a four-day visit to Kigali in Rwanda to attend the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Govt Meeting (CHOGM).

5. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday met Pope Francis in Vatican City and gifted him a ‘Patachitra’ painting. Patnaik is in Italy at the invitation of the World Food Programme (WFP) and will share Odisha’s “transformational journey” in food security and disaster management.

6. PM Narendra Modi expressed his condolences after an earthquake in Afghanistan killed at least 1,000 people.

🌎WORLD NEWS🌍

1. In *AFGHANISTAN* : 1000 people lost their lives and 600 others injured in an earthquake in the Barmala, Ziruk, Naka and Gayan districts of Paktika province.

2. In Britain, thousands of Railway staff have gone on a strike over a pay dispute with the government.

3. Sri Lanka, the govt has amended the minimum age limit for women leaving for foreign employment as domestic aides to 21 years of age. Current employment age for women to leave Saudi Arabia is 25 years and 23 years in other Middle East countries. The minimum age limit announced as 21 for the rest of the Middle East countries other than Saudi Arabia.

4. Pakistan has secured a deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to restore stalled assistance of $6 billio.
