Five Habits to be Successful

Five Habits to be Successful

First, forget inspiration. Habit is more dependable. Habit will sustain you whether you’re inspired or not.
~Octavia Butler

We often talk about the habits of successful people. But what are the habits that make a person successful?

Also, success is not an accomplishment of an aim. Rather, it derives its meaning and importance from the person it is attached to. For some people, success means earning 1 billion, marrying a good partner, cultivating a happy atmosphere in the family, learning a new language or skill, traveling the world, or mastering Kung Fu. We never know.

775 crore people, 775 crore definitions of success. But what are the basic habits that upon mastering will lead any person to be successful?

I must warn you, nothing new is easy. But if you master the following then there is no stopping you. It will take anywhere between 21 to 66 days.

Habit 1: Wake up early without an alarm

“Lose an hour in the morning, and you will be all day hunting for it.”
― Richard Whately

Morning is the most precious time of the day. The way you spend your morning governs your entire day. So, it is important to begin the day in the right way: away from the alarm clock and away from snoozing.

And once you start waking up in the morning, you fall in love with the tranquility of nature. It is so silent that it sets the perfect atmosphere to work on the dream projects.

The first hour of waking up must be spent away from the phone.

Habit 2: Exercise/ Yoga for 20 minutes

“Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees.”
― B.K.S Iyengar

It is said that If you want something you have never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done. So, this time when you begin to exercise or do yoga, do not set time, goals, and specific challenges or even compare with what others are doing.

Listen to your body. Let it figure out the dynamics of how it wishes to grow physically. You have to attain a spontaneous balance by not forcing yourself but finding it by doing it every day.

Habit 3: Meditation

“Brilliant things happen in calm minds. Be calm. You’re brilliant.”
-@Headspace,

Meditation is a wonderful practice to get in tune with yourself. And when done on an everyday basis, you start living a magical life and experience calmness in situations you would have devastated otherwise.

From Buddha to Guru Nanak Singh to Dalai Lama to Sadguru talks about the benefits of meditation. It sharpens your mind, declutters the unnecessary, and brings you closer to living a fulfilled and blissful life.

You can learn meditation from Headspace and Calm.

Habit 4: Read

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.”
– George R.R. Martin

Reading opens before you doors that otherwise remain hidden. The brain is like a muscle. The more you exercise, the more it sharpens. Your brain is hungry just like your stomach after every few hours. It wants to learn, know and grow.

Every new learning forms new neuropathy and does neurogenesis. So, it is suggested by every successful man to read and expand his knowledge each day. It allows you to identify opportunities, and take the right actions at the right time.

Diversify your reading. Read +500 pages each day on various topics like finance, self-help, fiction, journal, or whatever interests you.

Stories whether real or fictional are important. They shape our personality at the subconscious
level. So, Read! Read! Read!

There is no other way. There never was.

Habit 5: Plan and Take Action

“A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes your dreams come true.”
– Greg S. Reid

First, identify what you want to do. Do you want to be a writer, swimmer, CEO, software engineer, or entrepreneur? See, where your dreams lie, not your parents, or society.
Yours…

Then, research and make two types of plans: one long-term, the second followed by the short time plans.

Take one step closer to your dream every day. Keep tracking your progress and make changes as per the time and need.

Surround yourself with people who genuinely support you and your dreams and maybe share your progress too. You will succeed, my friend!

Habit 6: Share and Be Grateful

“The more you give, the more you have.”

When there is need, each human acts humbly but when the need is finished being humble is a virtue. When you start sharing what you have, you will have an abundance. It is the law of nature.

Practicing gratitude fills you with light, hope, and courage to succeed in the day. It reminds you that you already have everything that you need to be successful. When you are at peace and grateful for your surroundings, the people you live with, and the space you occupy, you will grow
exponentially.

It is a phycological proven fact.

Thank you!
