INTERNATIONAL NEWS

1. India will host the Special ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (SAIFMM) on 16-17 June 2022 to mark the 30th anniversary of our dialogue relations and the 10th anniversary of our Strategic Partnership with ASEAN. External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar

2. India has conveyed its protest to the Pakistan Government over the incident of vandalization of a Hindu temple in Karachi in Pakistan.

3. MoS for External Affairs Meenakashi Lekhi to be on six-day visit to Kyrgyz Republic and Kazakhstan from 09 June.

4. The visiting Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development of Nepal, Mahendra Rai Yadav, held a meeting with the Indian Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar in New Delhi on 08 June.

5. Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa held a meeting with senior diplomats from India, China and the Middle East on Thursday and sought assistance amid the country’s ongoing forex crisis. India has provided support worth over $3.5 billion while extending an additional $500 million credit line to the cash-strapped country.

6. 6. Finland plans to amend its border legislation to allow building of barriers along the country’s border with Russia.

7. Two British citizens and a Moroccan, fighting on behalf of Ukraine amid Russia’s ongoing military offensive, were sentenced to death by a court in Ukraine’s breakaway region and self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) on Thursday. The court convicted the persons of mercenary activities and terrorism.
