1. President Ram Nath Kovind will be on a seven-day state visit to Jamaica and St. Vincent & Grenadines starting 15th of this month. This will be the first-ever visit by an Indian Head of State to these countries.

President Ram Nath Kovind will be in Jamaica from 15th to 18th of this month where he will hold delegation level talks with his counterpart, the Governor General of Jamaica, Sir Patrick Allen. He will also meet Prime Minister, Andrew Holness and other dignitaries.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon the people of the counrty to take part in the Logo Design Contest for the G-20 Presidency of India.

It is a special competition that celebrates the creativity of country’s youth. The Logo Design Contest is open for participants for a month from 07 May to 7th of June.

3. India will hold the Presidency of the G-20, for the first time, from 1st December 2022 to 30 November 2023 culminating in the G-20 Summit in 2023.

4. Enforcement Directorate rejected the allegation that the statements of Xiaomi India officials were recorded under coercion and termed it baseless.

Earlier, Xiaomi India had alleged in the Karnataka High Court that its top executives faced threats of physical violence and coercion during questioning. The case was related to ED’s order to seize Xiaomi India’s funds worth over 5,551 crore rupees over the alleged violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act.

5. Six Indian nationals were arrested by US officials after they were apprehended on a sinking boat on a freezing river while allegedly trying to enter the US from Canada illegally. All the six persons apprehended were aged between 19 and 21 years and were charged with ‘Improper Entry by Alien’,
