3. The Central Bureau of Investigation filed a fresh case against fugitive diamond trader Mehul Choksi, Gitanjali Gems Limited, Surajmal Lallu Bhai & Company and others for allegedly defaulting on a loan of 25 crore rupees taken from Industrial Finance Corporation of India.

4. Election Commission announced the schedule for bye-election in three Assembly Constituencies including one each of Odisha, Kerala and Uttarakhand.

The bye-election will be held for Brajarajnagar Assembly Constituency in Odisha, Thrikkakara Assembly Constituency in Kerala and Champawat Assembly Constituency in Uttarakhand.

The Election Commission said, polling will be held on the 31st of this month and the counting of votes will be taken up on 3rd of next month.

5. *CHANDIGARH* : Demolition of Colony No. 4 begins under tight security arrangements on 01 May. The decision to raze the oldest colony was taken to make Chandigarh slum-free but scheduled demolitions were put on hold several 1times over the last 11 years.

6. *GUJARAT* : Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will chair the 14th conference of the Central Council of Health and Family Welfare — ‘Swasthya Chintan Shivir’ — in Kevadia in Gujarat from May 5 to 7.

7. *HIMACHAL* : The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) yesterday opened the double-lane stretch of the four-lane Bajaura bridge over the Beas in Kullu for traffic from the Jhiri to Bhuntar road and the Kullu bypass. Now, vehicles going from the Mandi side to Manali or Manikaran and vice-versa could take this route to avoid Bhuntar and Kullu towns.

8. *JAMMU* : In a significant move, the administrative council (AC), which met under the chairmanship of lieutenant governor, Manoj Sinha, approved the waiver/exemption of fifty percent (50%) of passenger tax chargeable on various vehicles from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.

9. In Jammu a public bicycle-sharing system will be launched under the Smart City Mission in a boost to eco-friendly mobility.

10. *MAHARASHTRA* Krishi Bhushan Awards for the years 2017, 2018 and 2019 were distributed in Nashik on 02 May. Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat were present on this occasion.

11. Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik, arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case, was admitted to a Mumbai hospital as he was suffering from diarrhoea, vomiting, and fever for the last three days, his lawyer informed a court. The lawyer said the minister’s condition was serious. The hospital said the minister is under observation at the Intensive Care Unit.

12. *PUNJAB* : Three newly-elected Rajya Sabha Members from Punjab took the oath. They are Aam Aadmi Party leaders Sanjeev Arora, Raghav Chadha and Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal. Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu administered the oath to them.

1. The Board of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday approved the nomination of Executive Director Rajiv Ranjan as an ex-officio member of the monetary policy committee (MPC). Ranjan will replace Mridul Saggar, who is reportedly to retire by end of April.

2. LIC IPO anchor book oversubscribed; gets bids of over ₹7,000 cr
The anchor investor portion of LIC initial public offering (IPO) was oversubscribed on Monday, the first day of subscription. Reports said the portion received bids in excess of ₹7,000 crore against the offer of ₹5,630 crore for anchor investors out of a total offer size of ₹21,000 crore. Investors likely to have bid include Norges Bank and GIC among others.

1. Satyajit Ray film festival being organized from 02 May till 4th of May in Mumbai.

2. Actress Alia Bhatt shared several of her selfies on Instagram on Monday. Among them, she shared a picture with a note she received from Amitabh Bachchan for her performance in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. “Alia, you are beyond magnificent in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’,” the note from Amitabh read.

3. Govt warns Google Chrome users of high-level threat, asks users to update browser.

The government’s Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) highlighted multiple vulnerabilities in Google Chrome for Desktop in a ‘high-severity’ warning. Google Chrome’s version prior to 101.0.4951.41 is affected. Vulnerabilities allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code, obtain sensitive information and bypass security restrictions. CERT-In requested users to update the browser.

1. General Manoj Pande,
Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari and
Navy Chief Hari Kumar were batch-mates of the 61st National Defence Academy (NDA) course, and the three are now heading their respective military wings.

Shortly after General Manoj Pande, the 29th chief of the army, took charge of the top post on Sunday.

2. Indian army said that there has been a rise in the recovery of military equipment from Afghanistan in the Kashmir region.

Sources in security said that traces of satellite phones being used by terror groups have been found in the Kashmir region and are sent to the National Technical Research Organisation for analysis.

3. The Defence Ministry has directed authorities to complete negotiations with France to co-develop a new fighter jet engine as soon as possible the future class of advanced medium combat aircraft (AMCA), India needs a new 110 kilonewton powered engine.
