1. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of rain and hailstorm for the next few days. Heavy rains, strong winds and hailstorms may occur in many states of the country during this season.

2. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare has proposed consolidating all AYUSH drug-related standards under a single independent drug controller. This recommendation aligns with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act of 1940.

3. The Telangana Legislative Assembly on Monday passed two bills to increase the reservation to backward classes to 42 per cent reservation to the BCs (as provision of 42 per cent reservaion to BCs would breach the 50 per cent cap on quotas). in educational institutions, employment and also elections to rural and urban local bodies.

4. The Delhi government will sign an MoU with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on18 March 2025, to implement the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM).

5. Recently, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced the development of two advanced 32-bit microprocessors, Vikram 3201 and Kalpana 3201. These processors are designed for space applications and represent leap in India’s indigenous technology capabilities.

6. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday launched ‘Rajiv Yuva Vikasam’ with an allocation of Rs 6,000 crore to provide employment opportunities for five lakh unemployed youth belonging to BC, SC, ST and minority groups in the state.

7. Amid the Trinamool Congress highlighting the issue of ‘fake voters’, the Election Commission has decided to introduce a new option in its software for the detection of ‘ghost voters’, an official said on Monday.

8. Bengaluru residents may soon face a hike in water tariffs as the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) plans to increase rates by one paise per liter, generating an additional ₹756.36 crore in revenue annually. The proposed hike, if implemented, could raise household water bills by approximately ₹500 per month.

9. Asha workers in Kerala, who have been staging an indefinite day-and-night protest outside the secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram for the past 36 days, have decided to escalate their agitation against the ruling Left Democratic Front government.

Their demands include a hike in their honorarium — from ₹9,000 to ₹21,000 — and a retirement allowance of ₹5 lakh.

10. Former Union Minister Dr. Debendra Pradhan passed away in New Delhi on Monday. He was 84. Dr. Pradhan served as Union Minister of State for Surface Transport in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government. He was the father of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

1. Police Authorities have reportedly issued curfew orders for several areasof Nagpur

Tension gripped central Nagpur on Monday when stones were hurled at police amid rumours that the holy book of the Muslim community was burnt during an agitation by a right-wing body for the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb, leaving four persons injured.

2. Chairman of Joint Committee of Parliament on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill Jagdambika Pal has said that the Bill is in favour of the poor Muslims. He alleged that there is a conspiracy to create a fake narrative among minority communities against the government.

3. Jatin Hukkeri, the husband of actress Ranya Rao-who was arrested in connection with gold smuggling-has filed a plea in court requesting exemption from arrest. Last Tuesday, the Karnataka High Court ruled that no action should be taken against him until the next hearing.

4. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) staged protests at various government offices during the day and submitted memorandums for the removal of Aurangzeb’s grave in Khuldabad, Maharashtra.

1. Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman launched a dedicated mobile app for the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme in New Delhi.

The App provides various facilities including intuitive interface with a clean design and effortless navigation, easy registration through Aadhaar face authentication and real time alerts to keep candidates abreast of new updates.

Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada, has stated that India is a trusted partner for most European Union countries, citing its transparent policies, vibrant democracy, and long-standing relationships. Addressing the India-Europe Business Exchange Programme in New Delhi on Monday, the Minister emphasized that this exchange will pave the way for greater synergies between India and the European Union.

3. Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed a ₹2,906 crore contract with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for the acquisition of the Low-Level Transportable Radar (LLTR) Ashwini. This indigenously developed radar by DRDO and BEL.

4. India’s wholesale inflation rate witnessed a slight increase in February 2024, settling at 2.38%, as per data released by the Ministry of Commerce on Monday. This figure is marginally higher than January’s wholesale inflation rate of 2.31%.

5. German insurance giant Allianz SE has decided to exit from its Indian insurance joint ventures with the Bajaj group. Nearly one and a half months after the government allowed 100 per cent FDI in insurance ventures, Allianz has decided to sell its 26 per cent stakes in life and non-life joint ventures with the Bajaj group for Rs 24,600 crore.
