1. India and Maldives on Monday signed seven Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for projects to be built under the Indian grant assistance scheme for the High Impact Community Development Project through local bodies (HICDP)

2. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday declared Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Ashiq Ahmed Nengroo as an individual ‘terrorist’ under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act as he is currently engaged in a Pakistan controlled campaign to orchestrate terror in Jammu and Kashmir.

3. Air India has cancelled flight services to Hong Kong due to COVID-19 restrictions imposed by the Hong Kong authorities and limited demand in the sector.

4. India and Finland announced the decision to establish an Indo-Finnish Virtual Network Centre on Quantum Computing. Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and visiting Finland Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintila, who is currently in India, announced.

5. Indonesia has stopped imports of agricultural products from India, citing a failure by New Delhi officials to register laboratories that evaluate food safety and issue certificates of analysis (COA),

1. The recent airstrikes by the Pakistan military in the Khost and Kunar provinces of Afghanistan, that killed a number of civilians, have escalated the already simmering tensions between the two countries.

2. India gets two months extension for the transportation of 50,000 Metric Tons (MTs) of wheat and life-saving medicines as humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan via the Attari-Wagah integrated check-post.

3. SpaceX successfully launched one of its Falcon 9 carrier rockets with a US intelligence satellite on board on 17 Apr. The rocket is putting into orbit the NROL-85 mission for the US National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). The mission’s details have not been made public.

4. Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appointed a new Cabinet on 18 Apr. The authorities said that a total of 17 members including many former Cabinet Ministers were sworn in.

5. Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2022 is being held from 17th April to 21st April 2022 at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. It is one of Asia’s leading international water events.

6. Tanzania’s first female president: Samia Suluhu Hassan is a politician of Tanzania and is currently serving as the country’s sixth. She is a member of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party that is currently ruling the country.

7. Israel successfully tested a new laser missile-defence system ‘Iron Beam‘ which can destroy any airborne object including drones.

8. An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan on 18 Apr convicted 89 people for lynching Sri Lankan man Priyantha Kumara and burning his body in December 2021. Six of the accused have been sentenced to death and seven were given life imprisonment in the case. A mob of over 800 people had attacked a garment factory and killed the 47-year-old over blasphemy allegations.

9. Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone call with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas and discussed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine,
