1. Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth will be on a eight day visit to India from 17 Apr to 24th of April.

2. The visiting dignitary will participate in the Ground-Breaking Ceremony of the WHO-Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar on 19th April and the Global Ayush Investment.

3. PM Modi has condoled the demise of philanthropist Bilquis Edhi. She waz 75 (death due to prolonged illness).

In a tweet , PM Modi said that her life long dedication to humanitarian work touched the lives of people across the globe. He said, people in India too remember her fondly.

Bilquis Bano Edhi HI (14 Aug 1947 – 15 April 2022) was a professional nurse and one of the most active philanthropists in Pakistan along with serving as co-chair of Edhi Foundation.

She has been named The Mother of Pakistan. She used to head the Edhi Foundation, and with her husband received the 1986 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service. In 2015, she received the Mother Teresa Memorial International Award for Social Justice.

4. The White House on Friday announced that US President Joe Biden has nominated Indian-American diplomat Rachna Sachdeva Korhonen as his envoy to Mali.

1. 30 people were killed in Afghanistan after Pakistani Airforce aircraft launched airstrikes on Khost and Kunar provinces on Friday night. Local officials in Afghanistan confirmed.

2. At least 26 Pakistani planes targeted the villages of Mirpar, Mandeh, Shaidi and Kai in the Spura district of Khost province. A spokesperson for the Taliban police in Khost province, Mostaghfar Gerbz confirmed about the attack.

3. Shanghai shows no signs of decline in cases, reported 26,330 confirmed Covid-19 infections, people in other parts of China stockpiling provisions amid specter of similar lockdowns.

4. Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Saturday said Finance Minister Lawrence Wong will succeed him as the next leader of the city-state.

5. Ukraine’s richest man Rinat Akhmetov has pledged to help rebuild Ukraine’s Mariupol after a siege by Russian forces caused widespread destruction in the city.
