1. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday nominated former chief justice Gulzar Ahmed as caretaker Prime Minister
2. An announcement in this regard was made by minister Fawad Chaudhry who said Khan took the decision following an approval from the core committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
According to the Dawn newspaper, Ahmed, who was sworn in as the 27th chief justice of Pakistan on December 21, 2019, was born on February 2, 1957, in Karachi. He had served as the chief justice till February 2022.
3. Sri Lanka’s central bank governor Ajith Nivard submits resignation as the country faces its worst economic crisis in decades. Angry protestors have also been calling for the country’s prime minister and president to step down. A severe shortage of foreign currency has left the government unable to pay for essential imports, including fuel.

A yacht owned by a Russian oligarch, Viktor Vekselberg, with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin has been seized by US authorities in Spain’s Mallorca on Monday. The action is a part of US’ response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
6. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree for visa restrictions for citizens of countries that Russia deems “unfriendly” after sanctions over Ukraine. Russia suspended simplified visa issuance regime with some EU countries as well as Norway, Switzerland, Denmark and Iceland. In March, Russia approved a list of “unfriendly countries” including the US, Canada, Britain, EU states and Ukraine.
