6. India’s first comprehensive river dolphin population survey, conducted from 2021 to 2023, recorded a total of 6,327 river dolphins across the country. The survey spanned the Ganga and Brahmaputra river basins, as well as the Beas River, and was carried out by the Wildlife Institute of India (WII).

7. The government has given approval for the development of Sonprayag to Kedarnath ropeway with the length of 12.9 kilometres.

Maharashtra’s government today announced the waiver of the 500 rupees stamp duty previously required for submitting affidavits while applying for essential documents such as caste certificates, income certificates, and nationality certificates. Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that under the new rule, applicants no longer need to pay the stamp duty for affidavits.

1. The Supreme Court of India ruled that protection against disability-based discrimination is a fundamental right, aligning with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016.

This decision also temporarily prevents Mr Kokate from being disqualified as an MLA.

1. The U.S. Air Force is adapting its naval warfare strategy by exploring the integration of the Harpoon anti-ship missile on F-16 aircraft. This move represents shift in operational capabilities.

2. The Defence Bio-Engineering & Electro Medical Laboratory (DEBEL), a Bangalore-based lab under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), successfully conducted high-altitude trials of the Indigenous On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS)-based Integrated Life Support System (ILSS) for the TEJAS aircraft, on 04 March 2025.

3. India’s new Astra MK-III missile, renamed GANDIVA, significantly increases its aerial combat capabilities with a range of 340 kilometers, surpassing rivals like China’s PL-15 and the U.S. AIM-174. India’s defense exports have also surged to a record high of Rs 21,083 crore for the fiscal year 2023-24.

5. Solar Industries’ subsidiary secured a ₹239 crore contract from the Ministry of Defence to supply Multi-Mode Hand Grenades to the Indian Army within a year.

The Indian Navy is significantly bolstering its maritime strength by inducting two advanced stealth frigates, INS Himagiri and INS Udaygiri, which are part of Project 17A and belong to the Nilgiri class, thus enhancing its combat capabilities across anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine operations; notably, these warships are largely indigenously built with 75% domestic components.

7. The Indian Navy plans to test the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) to potentially integrate it onto its warships, aiming to significantly enhance their close-in defense capabilities against a variety of aerial threats, including low-flying drones and other hostile aircraft at close range; essentially acting as a supplementary layer of protection alongside existing missile systems like the Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VL-SRSAM).

8. The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has been strategically evolving its fighter fleet with a long-term vision of operating an all-5th generation fighter force by 2047. This ambitious modernization plan aligns with Pakistan’s national defense objectives and aims to maintain regional air superiority.
