severe heatwave alert in Delhi for the next two days

1. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe heatwave alert in Delhi for the next two days. The maximum temperature is likely to settle at 40 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature is likely to hover around 22 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

2. President Ram Nath Kovind presented Padma Awards at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-II held at Rashtrapati Bhavan yesterday evening. Nine Padma Bhushan awards were presented .

3. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the 5th edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha will be held on 1st April at 11 AM. PM Modi will interact with the students who will appear in the board examination.

4. President Ram Nath Kovind will felicitate the winners of the 3rd National Water Awards at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi today (29 Mar) . During the event, the President will also launch the Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain campaign 2022 which will continue to be implemented this year till 30th of November 2022.

5. The first National Water Award was launched by the Jal Shakti Ministry in 2018. National Water Awards have provided a good opportunity to start-ups as well as leading organizations to engage and deliberate with senior policymakers on how to adopt the best water resources management practices in India.

6. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni introduced the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Bill, 2022 in Lok Sabha on Monday. Opposition parties raised objections over the Bill and called it unconstitutional. The bill proposes to allow police and prison authorities to collect, store and analyse physical and biological samples of convicts as well as persons accused of crimes.

7. The first day of the two-day strike call given by 10 Central trade unions badly impacted Central government offices. Banking services were partially impacted on Monday as a section of bank employees did not report for duty in support of the two-day nationwide general strike .

8. *Andhra Pradesh* : Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath has refuted the CAG’s observation of a Rs 48,000 crore financial irregularity by the state government. The CAG report has said that the state government, without showing accounts, used as much amount.

9. *DELHI* Assembly discussed the Annual Budget 2022-23 presented by Finance Minister Manish Sisodia on last Saturday. The Delhi government presented a 75 thousand 800 crore rupees annual budget for the year 2022-23.

10.*GOA* : Dr Pramod Sawant today took oath as the Chief Minister of Goa for the second consecutive time at a grand ceremony attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and top BJP leaders. Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai administered the oath. Along with Dr. Pramod Sawant, eight other cabinet ministers also took an oath. The ceremony was held at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Taleigao in Goa.

11. *J&K* : The work on the strategic Zojila Tunnel, which will provide all-weather connectivity between Ladakh region and the rest of the country, is nearing the halfway mark as the excavation for seven-km tunnel length has been completed, officials said. Zojila project consists of tunnels, roads, shafts, and bridges at Sonamarg (JK).

12. The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the 43-day holy pilgrimage to the cave shrine of Shri Amarnath Ji will commence on 30th June with all covid protocols in place. Yatra will culminate, as per the tradition, on the day of Raksha Bandhan, 11th August 2022.

13. The Jammu and Kashmir Police along with other security forces have arrested two terrorists belonging to the Lashkar-e-Taiba in Kashmir’s Budgam district. The police informed they have recovered incriminating materials, including a Chinese pistol, 2 pistol magazines, 12 pistol rounds, 32 AK-47 rounds from them. The arrest comes two days after a Special Police Officer was shot dead in Budgam.

14. *KARNATAKA* : The All India Muslim Personal Law Board has moved the Supreme Court against Karnataka High Court order which dismissed pleas against the ban on Hijab in educational institutes.

16. The Bengaluru police on Friday brought from Tamil Nadu, Jamal Mohammed Usmani, the second accused who had allegedly threatened to kill the Karnataka High Court judges who dismissed the Hijab-related petitions filed by some Muslim girl students from coastal town of Udupi in Karnataka.

17. *LADAKH*: Wood carving artist Tsering Namgyal from Ladakh received the Padma Shri award from President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday. The award was presented to him for art. The woodcraft artist is said to have been practising his art for “successive generations” and he has been “preserving and promoting” the art form for the past four decades.

18. *ODISHA* vigilance department has registered its highest-ever cash seizure from a government official, after it recovered ₹1.36 crore from a rural works engineer during raids at his premises in Malkangiri and Cuttack.

19. *TAMIL NADU* : Dr Veeraswamy Seshiah, a distinguished professor at the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, received the Padma Shri award for Medicine from President Ram Nath Kovind. Dr Seshiah is the founder patron of the Diabetes in Pregnancy Study Group in India. He has been honoured with multiple international and national awards in recognition of his academic, clinical and research contributions.

20. *TELANGANA* CM K Chandrashekar Rao attended the ‘Maha Kumbha Samprokshana’ ceremony at Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on Monday. The architectural masterpiece has been constructed with 2,50,000 tonne black granite. The temple exhibits a fusion of both Dravidian and Kakatiyan styles of architecture.

The reconstruction of the temple has been made at a cost of Rs 1,280 crore in the past five-and-a-half years. More than 2,000 sculptors and thousands of workers have been engaged in the reconstruction work, which is still under progress.

21. *TRIPURA* : Lok Sabha passes Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2022 for inclusion of Darlong community in list of Tripura

22. *UTTAR PRADESH* CM Yogi Adityanath has kept Ministries of Home, Vigilance, Personnel and 31 other ministries while allocating portfolios in his second Cabinet as UP’s CM. Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya has been given Rural Development and Food Processing while the other Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak got Medical Education and Health. Ex-Congress leader Jitin Prasada got Public Works Department.

23. Former UP Chief Minister late Kalyan Singh was awarded India’s second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, posthumously on Monday. His son Rajveer Singh collected the award on his behalf from President Ram Nath Kovind. The former BJP leader was elected as the UP CM twice, in 1991 and 1997, and had also been a member of the Parliament.

24. *WEST BENGAL’* s Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari and four other BJP MLAs were suspended by Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee on Monday after they allegedly exchanged blows with Trinamul Congress MLAs over the Birbhum massacre during an in-House fight that left at least one each from both sides injured

25. Market regulator SEBI has directed Ruchi Soya Industries to allow investors who participated in its ₹4,300 crore follow-on public offering (FPO) to withdraw their bids from March 28-30.

26. Food Ministry said The paddy procurement is progressing smoothly in Kharif Marketing Season 2021-22 at Minimum Support Price from farmers, as was done in previous years.
A quantity of over 741 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Paddy has been procured in Kharif Marketing Season 2021-22

30. *Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar interacts with French Counterpart; discuss various bilateral cooperation issues* : Chief of Staff of the French Navy Admiral Pierre Vandier is on a visit to India to participate in maiden Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief HADR themed Indian Ocean Naval Symposium IONS Maritime Exercise, IMEX 22. He was accorded a Guard of Honour at South Block Lawns in New Delhi today. Admiral Vandier also interacted with Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar.

31. *NAVY TO COMMISSION 2ND SQUADRON OF P-8I MARITIME PATROL AIRCRAFT ON 29 MAY* :
The Navy will commission on Tuesday its second long-range maritime reconnaissance air squadron comprising a fleet of P-8I aircraft to add muscle to its surveillance power in the Indian Ocean Region.The air squadron 316 will be commissioned at the INS Hansa.

32. CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore (CSIR-NAL) is participating in Wings India 2022 and showcasing its indigenous initiatives of civil aircrafts for flying training & commuter air connectivity.

34. HANSA–NG Aircraft designed and developed by CSIR-NAL is major attraction in Wings 2022. HANSA-NG was piloted by Wg. Cdr. Dilip Reddy, an Experimental Test Pilot of IAF. HANSA-NG is one of the most advanced two seat flying trainer aircraft powered by Rotax Digital Control Engine with unique features like Just-In-Time Prepreg (JIPREG) Composite lightweight Airframe, Glass Cockpit, Bubble Canopy with wide panoramic view, electrically operated flaps, etc.

35. *INDIAN ARMY SNIPERS GET SAKO TRG-42 RIFLES* : The Sako .338 TRG-42 sniper rifles have a better range, firepower, and telescopic sights than those possessed by the adversaryThe Indian Army has inducted the Sako .338 TRG-42 sniper rifles from Finland for troops deployed along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Sako rifles have reportedly replaced the .338 Lapua Magnum Scorpio TGT by Beretta, and the .50 Calibre M95 by Barrett, which were inducted in the Indian army in 2019 and 2020.

36. Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) for construction of eight Fast Patrol Vessels for Indian Coast Guard at a total project cost of Rs 473 crore. The contract was signed by Joint Secretary (Maritime & Systems) Shri Dinesh Kumar and Chairman & Managing Director, GSL Cmde BB Nagpal (Retd).

37. The Ministry of Defence on recently signed a contract with Indian conglomerate, Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (L&T) for the acquisition of two multi-purpose vessels (MPVs) for the Indian Navy

The Rs 887 crore deal was signed under the “Buy-Indian” category. The contract was signed in the presence of Vice Admiral SN Ghormade, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff and Pankaj Agarwal, Additional Secretary and Director General Acquisition. Delivery of vessels is scheduled to commence from May 2025.
