Petrol and diesel prices witnessed a hike

1. More than 182 crore 23 lakh COVID vaccine doses administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

2. Fifth edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha is going to be held on 1st April this year at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi. Education Ministry said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with students and share his insights on how to beat exam stress.

3. PM Modi will share his thoughts with the people in the country and abroad in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme on All India Radio at 11 AM on 27th (Sunday) of this month. It will be the 87th episode of the monthly radio programme.

4. More than 26 crore unorganized workers have been registered on eSHRAM portal out of which 53 percent are female workers and 47 percent are male workers. This was stated by the Labour and Employment Minister Bhupender Yadav.

5. Indian Oil will raise prices of a litre of petrol and diesel by 80 paise from Friday, its third such increase this week, Reuters reported on Thursday citing a notification sent to fuel dealers. A litre of petrol will cost ₹97.81 while diesel will be sold at ₹89.07 in Delhi.

6. Congress chief Sonia Gandhi has convened a party meeting of general secretaries and state incharges to discuss organisational polls and the party’s membership drive at Congress headquarters in Delhi on Saturday.

7. *ASSAM* : Properties worth crores was devastated in the fire. According to sources, the fire broke out in New Market area of Dibrugarh town. The fire engulfed several shops and godowns, however, no casualty has been reported. As per reports over 20 shops have been damaged in the fire.

8. *BIHAR* : VIP Chief Mukesh Sahni refuse to resign from ministerial post after all 3 MLAs joins BJP.

9. *KERALA* , private bus operators on 24 Mar began an indefinite strike demanding hike in fares.

10. *MAHARSHTRA* : Supreme Court on 24 Mar transferred the investigation against former Mumbai Police chief Param Bir Singh over allegations of misconduct and corruption to CBI.

11. *PUNJAB* CM Bhagwant Mann sought a special financial package worth 1 lakh crore rupees from the Centre for the revival of the state’s economy besides ensuring holistic development and welfare of its people.

12. All five nominees of AAP, including former cricketer Harbhajan Singh and former Delhi Assembly MLA Raghav Chadha, were elected to the Rajya Sabha unopposed from Punjab on Thursday. The other three MPs are IIT Delhi Professor Sandeep Pathak, Chancellor of Lovely Professional University Ashok Mittal and founder of Krishna Pran Breast Cancer Care Charitable Trust Sanjiv Arora.

13. *RAJASTHAN* Assembly on 24 Mar passed the Rajasthan Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill, 2022 to curb irregularities and use of unfair means in public exams. The offenders will be jailed for five to 10 years and fined from ₹10 lakh to ₹10 crore. Offenders will be debarred from taking any public examination for two years.

14. *TELANGANA* : Prestigious Wings India 2022 has been taken off at Begumpet airport in Hyderabad. The Union Civil Aviation Ministry and FICCI are jointly organizing the biennial event with India@75: New Horizon for Aviation Industry as the main theme. Business to Business and Business to Government deliberations are underway among various stakeholders as the conference cum exhibition is providing a platform for the same.

15. *UTTAR PRADESH:* Yogi Adityanath will be sworn-in as the UP CM for the second time in a row. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow at 4 pm on March 25. Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP Chief JP Nadda, and many other high-profile politicians including past BJP state Chief Minister will also be attending the ceremony.

16. *UTTARAKHAND* : A day after being sworn-in, the Uttarakhand Cabinet led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Thursday decided to form a committee of experts on the implementation of Uniform Civil Code in state.

17. *WEST BENGAL* : National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports that eight persons were allegedly burnt to death in Birbhum district of West Bengal after a TMC leader was killed in a bomb attack.

18. After Rampurhat TMC Block President Anarul Hossain was arrested on Thursday over Birbhum violence in West Bengal, the state government has suspended Rampurhat Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shayan Ahmed. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, during her visit to Bogtui, said that the incident at Birbhum could’ve been averted had the SDPO taken precautionary measures.

19. West Bengal Government on 24 Mar ordered a 10-day special clean-up drive, where-in it has directed the state police to uncover illegal arms and ammunition across the state. The announcement comes on the day when West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited Birbhum and said, “Police will ensure strictest punishment is handed out to culprits responsible for the Rampurhat carnage.

20. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday and demanded the removal of West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, calling him a “threat to the parliamentary democratic system”. TMC also asserted that the Bengal Police will not spare anyone involved in Birbhum violence and will make arrests at the quickest possible time.

FINANCE:

21. PM Modi has expressed happiness that Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has achieved an order value of one lakh crore rupees in a single year. He said, the GeM platform is especially empowering Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, with 57 percent of order value coming from MSME sector.

23. India’s projected GDP growth for FY22 has been downgraded from 6.7% to 4.6%, a United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) report said. Citing the Ukraine war for the cut in forecast, it added that India is expected to face reflexes from trade sanctions, food inflation and financial instability. It also said Russia will experience deep recession this year.

ENTERTAINMENT:

24. The fourth edition of Chitra Bharati Film Festival of Bhartiya Chitra Sadhna to start today 25 Mar in Bhopal.

Prasar Bharti has shut down over one thousand 200 Doordarshan Analogue Terrestrial Transmitters in view of the emerging trends in the Broadcasting sector and availability of DD Free Dish in the country. 26. The Telangana High Court declined to interfere in a petition that urged it to direct filmmakers of ‘The Kashmir Files’ to delete some controversial scenes in the movie and to declare that the movie was lop-sided and did not portray the ground-realities per se.

29. Director S S Rajamoul’s much-awaited film RRR – (Roudram Ranam Rudhiram : *Rage, War, Blood* ) will release today March 25, 2022. Star Cast: Jr NTR, Ramcharan, Ajay Devgan, Alia Bhatt. The film’s release date was pushed many times due to COVID-19 restrictions. RRR is set to release in five languages including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

DEFENCE:
31. Raksha Mantri inaugurates BRO Tourism website to promote tourism in border areas; Portal to facilitate guided tours for people to world famous BRO projects. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lauds BRO for its incomparable role in encouraging tourism through projects like Atal Tunnel.

32. The Ministry of Defence on Thursday released a list of 107 defence items that will not be imported after a certain time. Several Russian weapon parts are a part of the list, Hindustan Times reported. The import ban is “in continuous pursuit of self-reliance in defence manufacturing and to minimise imports by DPSUs under ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’,” the Ministry said.

33. The preliminary findings of an inquiry into the accidental firing of a Brahmos missile into Pakistani territory during a training drill earlier this month point to an air force group captain’s failure in maintaining safety standards, according to sources. The officer is likely to face disciplinary action once the high-level inquiry is completed.

34. Two indigenously built Advanced Light Helicopters were formally integrated into Indian Naval Air Station Parundu near Uchipuli in Ramanathapuram district.

35. Vice-Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, inducted the helicopters. The ALH MK III’s stationing would improve maritime surveillance over the Gulf of Mannar, Palk Bay, and the Comorin region, as well as give increased ranges for round-the-clock marine search and rescue missions,

36. On 23rd March 2022, the surface-to-surface BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test-fired by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
