1. Over 180 crore 13 lakh doses of COVID vaccine administered in the country so far. National recovery rate improved to 98.71%.

2. PM Modi yesterday 13 Mar chaired a high-level meeting to review India’s security preparedness and the prevailing global scenario in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

3. Ayush Minister Sarbanand Sonowal has said that India is well positioned to become global leader in Yoga and traditional medicine. Mr Sonowal inaugurated Yoga Mahotsav 2022 on 13 Mar, an event to commemorate 100 days countdown in run up to 8th International Day of Yoga 2022 in New Delhi.

4. Communication Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated a seminar on 25 Years of TRAI Act on 13 Mar: The Way Forward for Stakeholders in New Delhi. TRAI Act was enacted in 1997 to regulate the telecommunications sector in India.

5. The 9th meeting of the Hindi Salahkar Samiti of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat was held at Parliament House Annexe on 13 Mar. Speaking on the occasion, Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu said that at present the technology has advanced so much that it is possible to translate from English to many regional languages simultaneously.

6. Govt will select hundred start-ups across the country to empower sustainable economic growth and generate employment opportunities in the water or used water sector. Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said this at the launch of ‘India Water Pitch-Pilot-Scale Start-up Challenge’ in New Delhi on Saturday (12 Mar).

7. The Maldivian Defence Ministry said on Saturday that there’s no armed foreign military personnel present in the country. No foreign parties would be active at the Uthuru Thilafalhu (UTF) base, where the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF)’s Coast Guard dock and dockyard are being developed, reports stated. This comes amid the Maldivian Opposition’s ‘India Out’ campaign.

8. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated FlyBig airlines’ Indore-Gondia-Hyderabad flight route virtually at an event on 13 Mar Sunday. The services will be run under UDAN Regional Connectivity Scheme. “Indore needs to be connected with other smaller cities,” Scindia said, adding, there are plans for smaller planes and helicopters to connect cities across the country “till the last mile”.

9. J&K : Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh on Saturday said that the Space centre in Jammu will be named after former Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chairman Satish Dhawan. The Union Minister apprised that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unlocked the space centre and the scope for private players. MoS Jitendra Singh also stated that the government had formed space-tech centres in other parts of the country.

10.KARNATAKA : Former Prime Minister and patriarch of the Janata Dal (Secular) HD Deve Gowda on Saturday ruled out the possibility of his party entering into a pre-poll alliance with any political party in Karnataka ahead of the 2023 state Assembly elections.

11. Eight people, including a minor, were booked for allegedly performing motorbike stunts on the streets of Karnataka’s Mangaluru and the police also seized five two-wheelers. Police received multiple complaints from locals informing that the youths were performing stunts and four different cases were registered.

12. MADHYA PRADESH : Four Bangladeshi terrorists have been arrested from two places in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said on 13 Mar Sunday. They belong to the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), the terrorist group involved in the 2018 Bodh Gaya bombing, he said.

13. MANIPUR , the newly elected members of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly will take oath today morning at Assembly Hall. Meanwhile, the Governor of Manipur has dissolved the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly.

14.PUNJAB : National Convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann alongwith various AAP leaders visited Golden Temple at Amritsar to pay obeisance after the grand victory of the party on 13 Mar. Mr Mann is set to take oath as the chief minister on 16 Mar Wednesday at Khatkarkalan in SBS Nagar district at 12.30 pm.

15. Punjab govt has withdrawn security cover of 122 former ministers and MLAs. The moves comes a day after Chief Minister-elect Bhagwant Mann met state DGP VK Bhawra. Additional Director General of Police (Security) in a letter to SSPs and CPs ordered the withdrawal of security from 122 politicians.

16.TELANGANA : Minister K.T.Rama Rao on Saturday warned that the government would stop power and water supply to the defence areas in the Secunderabad Cantonment limits, if the Local Military Authority (LMA) blocks roads and creates hurdles for development works planned by the state government.

17. Chief Justice of India Justice N.V. Ramana laid the foundation stone and performed a ground-breaking ceremony of the construction of a building for the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre-Hyderabad (IAMC-H) at Raidurg in Hyderabad on 12 Mar Saturday.

19. WEST BENGAL : Former Union ministers Shatrughan Sinha and Babul Supriyo will be TMC candidates for Lok Sabha by-election from Asansol and Assembly by-election from Ballygunge respectively.

20. Centre asks National Board of Examinations to reduce cut-off by 15 percentile for NEET-PG 2021 :. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has lowered the minimum qualifying percentiles for NEET-PG 2021 for all categories. The cut-off for NEET-PG 2021 has been reduced by 15 percentile across all categories, a senior official said on Saturday. There would be no change in the rank obtained by the student in the National Entrance Test-Post Graduate 2021 rank.

21. A PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking directions on the issue of admission and continuation of studies in the country by Indian medical students who were recently evacuated from war-hit Ukraine

22. Second part of the Budget Session of Parliament will begin from today. which is scheduled from 14 Mar to conclude on 8th of April.

23. There will be 19 sittings and the Parliament is also set to return to its normal functioning schedule. Both Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha will sit from 11 AM to 6 PM. The decision has been taken in the wake of the decline in COVID-19 cases in the country.

24. Union minister Nitin Gadkari has said that automobile companies will start manufacturing flex-fuel vehicles within six months. Addressing a Global Business Summit, he said, most vehicles in India will soon run on 100 percent ethanol. Flex-fuel or flexible fuel is an alternative fuel with a combination of gasoline and methanol or ethanol.

27. Russian court allows Peppa Pig piracy without punishment after Western sanctions:
Entertainment One, which owns the rights of the cartoon character had asked for 40,000 roubles in compensation from a Russian entrepreneur who had drawn his own version of the character. The court dismissed the case citing “unfriendly actions of US and affiliated countries

DEFENCE:

28. PM Modi on Sunday met the three service chiefs to discuss the security preparedness of the country amid talks about the ongoing global crisis over the Russia-Ukraine issue.

The Prime Minister met the three service chiefs; Army chief Gen Manoj Mukund Naravane, Navy chief Admiral R Hari Kumar and Air Force chief Air chief marshal VR Chaudhari.

29. India is developing a new air-launched version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile which would be able to strike at enemy targets at more than 800 kilometers. The missile earlier had the capability of hitting targets at around 300 kilometers after being released from a Su-30MKI combat aircraft.

30. Pakistan is trying to rake up the issue of the misfiring of the BrahMos and trying to question the safety of India’s missile arsenal at the international level but sources said the BrahMos was just a tactical missile.
India has enhanced the range of the tactical missile recently and it can go beyond 500 kilometers with just an upgrade in its software.
The Indian Air Force has equipped around 40 of its Su-30 combat aircraft with the BrahMos cruise missiles which can cause heavy destruction in enemy camps.
