1. PM Narendra Modi spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin, discusses safe evacuation of Indians.
2. PM Modi has said that the Govt is working round the clock to bring back Indians stranded in war-torn Ukraine. PM said, Government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that every Indian reaches home safely.
3. The Indian Embassy in Ukraine has issued an urgent advisory for Indian Nationals in Kharkiv. The Embassy said, for their own safety and security, the Indian Nationals must leave Kharkiv in the light of the deteriorating situation.
4. *MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS*: Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, nearly 17,000 Indian nationals have left Ukraine’s borders since the advisories were issued. He said, it includes some Indians who have not registered with the Embassy earlier.
5. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia who is in Romania for evacuation of Indian Nations has said that Government mounted six flights on 02 Mar in Bucharest, Romania carrying over 1200 Indian students back to India. Mr Scindia thanked Air India, IndiGo and Air India Express for rising to the challenge and working round the clock with Government on the evacuation operations.
6. Indian Embassy in Romania in coordination with Moldovan authorities is organizing movement of Indian nationals stranded in Odessa, Ukraine to Bucharest through Moldova.
7. *Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s son Zain passes away.*
Microsoft Corp said Zain Nadella, son of Chief Executive Officer Satya, died on 28 Feb morning. He was 26 years old and had been born with cerebral palsy.
8. Ukraine Ambassador to UN Sergiy Kyslytsya condoled the demise of 21-year-old Indian student Naveen Shekharappa Gyanagoudar. He said, “Ukraine deeply regrets that a student from India has become a victim of this shelling by the Russian Armed Forces.” “We offer our deepest sympathies to India and the relatives of the victim,” Kyslytsya stated.
Ukraine’s emergency service on Wednesday said over 2,000 Ukrainian civilians have been killed so far since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began last week.

1. European Union diplomats stonewalled requests from Pakistan’s army chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, to be invited to attend a high-profile multilateral conference on the Indo-Pacific region in Paris last week, as well as a one-on-one meeting with the organisation’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell Fontelles, three diplomatic sources have confirmed.
2. Russia has informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that its military forces have taken control of the territory around Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi said.
3. The European Union has banned seven Russian banks from the Society for world wide interbank financial telecommunication (SWIFT) global system that underpins cross-border payments. But it spared two financial institutions in Russia because they are key to transactions for EU energy imports. The EU left out Gazprombank and Sberbank.
4. The World Bank on has announced more than $1 billion in humanitarian aid for Afghanistan. The reallocation from the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund (ARTF) follows the $280 million in ARTF funds disbursed last December, and is aimed at supporting the humanitarian response over the critical winter months. The funds, to be delivered in the form of grants.
5. The U.N. refugee agency said more than 874,000 people have fled Ukraine since Russia’s military operation last week. It added the figure is rising exponentially, putting it on track to cross 1 million.
