1. PM Modi spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin about recent developments regarding Ukraine and reiterated his conviction that the differences between Russia and NATO can only be resolved through honest and sincere dialogue, said PMO.

2. PM Modi appealed for immediate cessation of violence. He sensitised Putin about India’s concerns regarding Indian citizens’ safety in Ukraine.

3. *What steps is India taking to help Indians stranded in Ukraine?*
Addressing the media over Ukraine-Russia war, Indian government said it’s sending teams from embassies in Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary, which are Ukraine’s neighbouring countries, to help the stranded Indians in Ukraine. Students have also been shifted to Ukrainian schools for safety.

4. Embassy of India in Ukraine accommodates more than 200 Indian students at school near the embassy in the nation’s capital Kyiv amid war with Russia.

5. Ministry of External Affairs inaugurated projects reflecting Buddhist linkages with ASEAN and East Asian countries on 24 Feb as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations. The celebration was graced by Minister of State for External Affairs Sr. RajKumar Ranjan Singh. The dignitaries unveiled books of Jataka Tales translated into Thai, Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese languages.

6. World Economic Forum and the National Institute of Urban Affairs signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on a jointly designed Sustainable Cities India program on 24 Feb. The program is aimed to create an enabling environment for cities to generate de-carbonization solutions.

7. India’s largest 4G mobile broadband and digital service provider, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. will land the next generation multi-terabit India-Asia-Xpress (IAX) undersea cable system in Hulhumale, Maldives. The high capacity and high-speed IAX system will connect Hulhumale directly with World’s major internet hubs in India and Singapore.

8. A 500-year-old Lord Hanuman idol, which had been stolen from Tamil Nadu and smuggled abroad, is to be repatriated to India soon. The bronze idol was auctioned for over ₹28,00,000 to a buyer in Australia in 2014, however, the auction house and buyer didn’t know of its origins. It has now been given to the Indian High Commissioner in Australia.

1. Russia has launched a special military operation in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region. Russian forces entered Ukrainian territory from Crimea. Ballistic missile attacks were also launched on a number of Ukrainian cities on 24 Feb.

2. Russian military has said the first day of Ukraine invasion was “successful”. Meanwhile, Ukraine Presidency said Russian forces have captured Chernobyl.

3. NATO has said that it stands in solidarity with Ukraine. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said in a televised statement that NATO allies in close coordination with EU and other partners all over the world, are imposing severe economic sanctions on Russia.

4. More than 40 Ukrainian soldiers and around 10 civilians died in the first hours of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, an aide to President Volodymyr Zelensky told.

5. US President
US President Joe Biden called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “tyrant”, saying that the Russian leader wants to “re-establish the former Soviet Union”.

6. The UK has announced its biggest-ever economic sanctions against Russia after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It’s banning Russian banks from the UK finance system, stopping them from accessing sterling and clearing payments through the UK. Russian companies will be banned from raising funds in the UK and the UK will limit the money Russians can deposit in UK banks.

7. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he had no other option but to order what he has called a special operation against Ukraine, saying all of Moscow’s previous attempts to change the security situation had come to nothing. “We…were prepared in one way or another for what is now happening from…point of view of sanctions policy,” Putin stated.
