2. Indian Embassy in Kyiv advises Indian students to leave Ukraine temporarily

3. India dispatched the first shipment of wheat from India for the people of Afghanistan via the Attari-Wagah land border crossing on Tuesday.

4. India has so far supplied 6.6 tonnes of life-saving medicines and 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Afghanistan, and most of the aid has been sent on flights via the United Arab Emirates and Iran.

1. Romanian Defence Minister Vasile Dîncu on Tuesday said that Romania is preparing to receive up to 5 lakh potential refugees from Ukraine in case of a Russian invasion. “There is a plan prepared for all large cities, there are areas for this near the borders,” he added. This comes after Russia recognised two breakaway Ukrainian regions as independent.

2. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday asked the upper house of parliament for permission to use Russia’s armed forces abroad. Members then voted unanimously to allow Putin to use military force outside Russia. Russian troops were earlier moved into the Donetsk and Luhansk regions that broke away from Ukraine in 2014.

3. Hungary to deploy troops near Ukrainian border amid crisis.

4. Yemen’s Houthis launch drone attack on Saudi airport : Saudi Arabia’s state-run news agency said 16 people were injured at King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Airport in Saudi city of Jizan on Monday after a drone carrying explosives launched by Iran-backed Houthis was intercepted and destroyed. This comes after 12 people were injured in a similar attack by Houthis at Abha International Airport less than two weeks ago.

5. Saudi Arabia held celebrations on 22 Feb (Tuesday) to commemorate its foundation nearly 300 years ago for the first time. The celebratory events included musical performances on Saudi modern history and fireworks, February 22 marks the anniversary of the day in 1727 when Mohammed bin Saud, who was founder of first Saudi state, took over emirate of Diriyah.

6. Australia condemns China for ‘act of intimidation’ after laser aimed at aircraft
China and Australia traded barbs after Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison condemned Chinese PLA navy for an ‘Act of Intimidation’ as it shone laser at Australian P-8A Poseidon surveillance plane and demanded an explanation from Beijing over the “dangerous, unprofessional and reckless” incident.
