1. India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 149 crore 57 lakh. Out of the total 87 crore 21 lakh doses have been administered as first dose and 62 crore 35 lakh doses administered as second dose.

2. The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry has urged the States and Union Territories to facilitate the administration of precautionary doses to eligible beneficiaries which is scheduled to start from 10th of this month.

3. The Election Commission has enhanced the existing election expenditure limit for candidates in Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies. These limits will be applicable in all upcoming elections. The ceiling on poll expenditure has been raised from 70 lakh to 95 lakh rupees in bigger states and 54 lakh to 75 lakhs in smaller states.

4. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA approves Intra-State Transmission System-Green Energy Corridor Phase-II with over Rs 12,000 cr estimated cost. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said, the scheme will add approximately 10 thousand 750 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and around 27 thousand 500 Megavolt-Amperes transformation capacity of substations.

5. ASSAM : Bulli Bai row: Neeraj Bishnoi, a 2nd-year engineering student and face behind the engineering student and the main conspirator and creator of the Bulli Bai app. Bishnoi was nabbed by Delhi Police from Assam’s Jorhat on Wednesday night.

6. PUNJAB : The Ministry of Home Affairs has constituted a committee to enquire into the serious lapses in the security arrangements during PM Modi’s visit to Punjab. The three-member committee will be led by Sudhir Kumar Saxena, Secretary (Security), Cabinet Secretariat and also comprising Balbir Singh, Joint Director, IB and S. Suresh, IG, SPG. The committee has been advised to submit the report at the earliest.

7. The Centre is considering action under the Special Protection Group (SPG) Act against Punjab Police officers following the alleged breach in security of PM Modi during his visit to Punjab on Wednesday.

8. The PM’s cavalcade was stranded on a flyover 30 km from the National Martyrs Memorial in Hussainiwala, Punjab, on Wednesday. Calling it “a major lapse in the security of the PM”, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had sought a report from the Punjab government and asked it “to fix responsibility for this lapse and take strict action”.

9. UTTAR PRADESH CM Yogi Adityanath has announced 50% freeship in power bills of private tube wells used by farmers in the state. The decision will affect around 13 lakh farmers of the state directly and put a burden of one thousand crore rupees per year on the power corporation.

10. UTTAR KHAND : Union Defence minister Rajnath Singh and CM Pushkar Singh Dhami jointly launched development works for the district worth Rs 111 crore at the conclusion of the Garhwal leg of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Vijay Sankalp Yatra in Uttarkashi on Thursday. The duo inaugurated various schemes worth Rs 47 crore and unveiled the foundation of other works worth Rs 64 crore on the occasion.

11. TELANGANA: Major relief to Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay, High Court orders release. Justice Ujjal Bhuyan of Telangana High Court on Wednesday ‘stayed’ the remand report dated 3-1-2022 pertaining to the arrest of Bandi Sanjay MP from Karimnagar and his followers.

12. The Union Minister Dr Jindra Singh will inaugurate the 24th Conference on e-Governance 2020-21 in Hyderabad today. The two-day conference themed ‘India’s Techade: Digital Governance in a Post Pandemic World’ will be organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, in association with the Government of Telangana.

During the event, National Awards for e-Governance 2021 will be presented under 6 categories to 26 e-Governance initiatives at Central, State and District levels and also to Academic and Research Institutions and Public Sector Undertakings.

13. WEST BENGAL : PM Modi to inaugurate second campus of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute in Kolkata today via video conferencing.

14. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the PM Modi, approved the scheme on Green Energy Corridor (GEC) Phase-II for Intra-State Transmission System (InSTS) for addition of approximately 10,750 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines and approx.

15. The scheme is targeted to be set up with total estimated cost of Rs. 12,031.33 crore and Central Financial Assistance (CFA) @ 33 percent of the project cost i.e. Rs. 3970.34 crore. The transmission systems will be created over a period of five year from Financial Year 2021-22 to 2025-26. The scheme will help in achieving the target of 450 GW installed RE capacity by 2030.

18. Pakistan Taking Measures to Counterbalance India’s S-400 Deployment in Punjab:. The Indian Air Force has deployed the first unit of S-400 Triumfs at one of five airbases in Punjab near Pakistan. Last month, MoD confirmed the delivery of the first Russian-origin missile unit.
