2. Birthday: NEERAJ CHOPRA (born 24 December 1997) is an Indian track and field athlete, who competes in the javelin throw. As of August 2021, he is ranked second internationally by World Athletics. A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) in the Indian Army, Chopra is the first track and field athlete to win a gold medal for India at the Olympics.
He is also the first track and field athlete from India to win at the IAAF World U20 Championships, where in 2016 he achieved a world under-20 record throw of 86.48 m, becoming the first Indian athlete to set a world record.
3. Monank Patel-led USA defeated Ireland by 26 runs in first T20I of the three-match series in Florida. It’s USA’s first-ever victory in international cricket against a Test-playing nation. USA put up a total of 188/6 and restricted Ireland to 162/6. USA’s Gajanand Singh was named Player of the Match for scoring 65(42), including three fours and five sixes.
4. Brazilian Olympic diver Ian Matos died aged 32 following illness after suffering from a lung infection. He was admitted to a hospital for around two months. Matos had competed in the men’s synchronised three-metre springboard at the 2016 Olympics in Rio and won three bronze medals at the 2010 South American Games.
