1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit France and US starting Monday; To co-chair AI Action Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
2. A 2-day-long BIMSTEC digital conclave kicked off today in Colombo with the theme Building Digital Public Infrastructure for Shared Prosperity. The event was inaugurated in the presence of the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha; the Secretary General of BIMSTEC, Indra Mani Pandey.
3. India and the U.S. have agreed to draft a comprehensive framework on defence cooperation aimed at structuring bilateral collaboration for the period of 2025-2035.
4. US authorities have informed India that there are up to 487 presumed Indian citizens with “final removal order” and identifying details have been supplied to New Delhi with regard to 298 individuals, foreign secretary Vikram Misri said on Friday.

1. Saudi Arabia has introduced significant changes to its visa policy, effective 01 February 2025, limiting travellers from 14 countries to single-entry visas. This move aims to address concerns over unauthorized Hajj pilgrims entering the country on long-term visit visas.
2. Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera has ordered Defence Force Commander Paul Valentino Phiri to begin preparations for the withdrawal of Malawian troops from the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The Malawian troops are part of a Southern African Development Community mission to help the DRC government fight rebels in the east.
3. France has officially delivered its first batch of Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets to Ukraine. Last June, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the transfer of Mirage 2000-5 jets to Ukraine as part of France’s military cooperation with Kyiv.
4. Argentina has announced its withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO), following a similar decision made by the United States under President Donald Trump. President Javier Milei’s administration cited “deep differences” with the WHO’s handling of health issues, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic.
