1. PM Modi on 10 Dec stressed on the need to constantly improve democratic practices and systems and continue to enhance inclusion, transparency and human dignity. He was delivering an address at the Summit for Democracy hosted by US President Joe Biden this evening via video conferencing.
2. India airlifts 110 stranded Indian citizens, Afghan nationals from Hindu and Sikh Community from Kabul. The flight brought back the stranded Indian citizens and distressed Afghan citizens belonging to Hindu and Sikh Community.
3. The 8th Foreign Office Consultations between India and Slovenia were held virtually on 10 Dec (Friday). Secretary (West) in the External Affairs Ministry, Reenat Sandhu and State Secretary of Slovenian Foreign Affairs Ministry, Dr. Stanislav Rascan reviewed India – Slovenia bilateral relations. Regional and global issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
4. The UN General Assembly (UNGA) has conferred Observer Status to the International Solar Alliance (ISA). The ISA was jointly launched by India and France in 2015.
5. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday told the Lok Sabha that US sanctions on Iran have not affected India’s Chabahar port project. Jaishankar was responding to a question from BSP member Ritesh Pandey. Jaishankar also denied assertions.

1. Finland has ordered 64 F-35 fighter planes from the US to replace ageing F/A-18 combat jets in a deal worth over $9.4 billion.
2. Taiwan’s long-standing diplomatic ally Nicaragua has cut off ties with the self-governed island-state to re-establish talks with China. “The Government of Nicaragua declares that it recognises that in the world there is only one single China,” announced the Foreign Ministry. Meanwhile, China has welcomed the move and termed it as the “right choice in line with the global trend”.
3. South Africa reported more than 22,000 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, a new record of daily cases as plans for booster shots are announced by health officials.
