1. The 21st India Russia Annual Summit between PM Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin was held at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on 06 Dec. PM Modi gifted Russian president Vladimir Putin a premium handmade artefact from the tribal community of Gujarat.
2. India, Russia set target of trade worth 30 billion dollars, investment worth 50 billion dollars by 2025: PM Modi said the first 2 Plus 2 dialogue between defence and foreign ministers which took place earlier today starts a new mechanism to improve behavioural cooperation. He also said they have been in constant touch on Afghanistan and other regional issues.
3. Russia has long been a key arms supplier to India. The long-range S-400 ground-to-air missile defence system is one of their most high-profile current contracts.

1. A Myanmar court on 06 Dec 2021 sentenced the ousted State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi to four years jail term. The former deposed President Win Myint has also been found guilty by the court.
2. Aung San Suu Kyi is facing charges of violating the official secrets act, corruption and electoral fraud. On conviction under these charges she may face a very long sentence running into several years.
3. Aung San Suu Kyi has been under detention after the military ousted the civilian govt headed by her on 01 Feb 2021 a day before the newly elected parliament was to meet. Aung San Suu Kyi’s party National League for Democracy (NLD) had secured a vast majority in the November 2020 national elections defeating the military backed Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP).
4. The next-generation James Webb Space Telescope, has been fuelled at the launch site, the European Space Agency (ESA) informed that the telescope is undergoing final checks and tests at Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana ahead of its launch on December 22. The telescope, which is the most powerful one ever built, will be launched into space aboard Ariane 5, one of the most powerful rockets.
