1. India and Sri Lanka have signed an agreement to set up 60 smart classrooms in plantation regions on the island. The project is funded by a grant of 508 million Sri Lankan rupees from the Indian government.
2. The Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a significant contract worth ₹2,960 crore with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for the supply of Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missiles (MRSAM) intended for the Indian Navy. This agreement, finalized on 16 January 2025.
3. President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, will be the Chief Guest at the 76th Republic Day celebrations this year. At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Subianto will pay a state visit to India on the 25th and 26th of January.

1. In a fresh strategic partnership between Russia and Bangladesh, the holding “Russian Helicopters,” a subsidiary of the conglomerate “Rostec,” has commenced the delivery of two advanced and highly versatile Mi-171A2 multi-purpose helicopters.
2. Qatar’s prime minister vowed Thursday to support the rehabilitation of Syria’s infrastructure, devastated by nearly 14 years of civil war.
3. In Türkiye, 30 people so far died and 49 others remain hospitalised in a hooch tragedy. The dead include foreign nationals also.
4. Protest in Bangladesh over removal of a particular graffiti from textbooks:
The protesting group, “Aggrieved Adivasi Students” took out a procession in front of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) Bhavan, Dhaka, demanding reinstatement of the graffiti with the term “Adivasi” in textbooks.
Recently, the NCTB removed the graffiti from the back cover of the Bangla grammar book for Classes IX and X, following pressure from the “Students for Sovereignty”.
