THE MAHA KUMBH-2025 , which is Poorna Kumbh is taking place in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, from 13th January to 26th February, 2025. This mega event, expected to attract millions of devotees, tourists, and pilgrims from across the world offers a unique opportunity to showcase India’s cultural, spiritual heritage and tourism potential.
2. President Smt Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankar have extended their greetings on the eve of Lohri. They also extended their greeted for the upcoming Makar Sankranti, Pongal, and Magh Bihu festivals, which will be celebrated on the 14th of this month. PM Modi has also extended greetings on the occasion of Lohri.
RITUALS OF THE TRADITIONAL HARVEST FESTIVAL: Lohri is a popular festival celebrated in North India, predominantly in Punjab, some parts of Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir, and in Pakistan. A celebration of the winter solstice, Lohri festival marks the end of the winter season and the beginning of the spring, or Basant season.

5. The Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) has approved oil and gas exploratory drilling in the eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) of Hollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam. This decision, taken during the 81st meeting of the committee, has raised questions about balancing energy development with the need to preserve one of India’s most unique wildlife habitats.
6. The Indian Space Research Organisation has made significant progress in stabilising its two satellites under the SpaDex programme before docking. It succeeded in bringing Chaser and Target satellites at 3 3-meter distances before moving them back to a safer distance. ISRO has shared photographs taken by onboard cameras in the satellites.
7. Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh will inaugurate the Mega Entrepreneurship Development Conclave in Pune.
8. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the all weather Z-Morh tunnel in picturesque Sonamarg in central Kashmir today. Security has been beefed up in the Valley before the PM’s visit.
9. BJP announces 2nd list of 29 candidates for Delhi Assembly Elections. Earlier, the Party released its first list of 29 candidates. Out of the total 70 assembly seats, the BJP has announced candidates for 58 seats so far.

Telangana Govt. to Launch Four Welfare Schemes : Under Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa, landless agricultural workers will receive financial assistance of ₹12,000 annually, while the Rythu Bharosa scheme will provide farmers ₹12,000 per acre per year. 2. Telangana, Film Nagar police have registered a criminal case against film producer Suresh Babu, actors Venkatesh Daggubati, Rana Daggubati, and Abhiram. The case has been booked under sections 448, 452, 458 of the IPC read with section 120(B) of the IPC. The complaint was filed by the director of W3 Hospitality Services Pvt. Ltd., accusing the accused persons of illegal demolition and theft of property at two leased premises in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.

1. On Jan 15, Captain Sandhya Mahla will make history when she becomes the first woman officer ever to have commanded two prestigious women contingents of the Indian Army. She will lead the women’s Agniveer contingent at the Army Day parade, which is set to take place in Pune for the first time, at the city’s Bombay Engineering Group (BEG) and Centre. Last year, at the Republic Day parade, she had led the tri-services women’s contingent. Captain Sandhya is a second-generation army officer. Her father Subedar KR Mahla, retired after 38 years of service in the Army.
2. India plans to ink at least four mega defence deals for fighters, submarines, helicopters and artillery guns, collectively worth over Rs 1.5 lakh crore, before this fiscal ends on March 31, as part of the long-term plan to boost the firepower and combat capabilities of the armed forces.
