1. President Smt Droupadi Murmu conferred ‘Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar’ to 17 children for their exceptional achievements.

2. Former Prime Minister Dr. Shri Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday at the age of 92. 🙏🏻💐The senior Congress leader had been admitted to AIIMS Delhi in a critical condition on Thursday evening after his health deteriorated.

He was born in Gah in Punjab province’s western region, which now falls in Pakistan. He served two terms as India’s prime minister from 2004 to 2014.

As a mark of respect, all government programs scheduled for December 27 have been cancelled.

3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 45th edition of PRAGATI, an information and communication technology-based, multimodal platform for proactive governance and timely implementation, involving the Centre and state governments.

4. The Election Commission (EC) said that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections saw 64.64 crore votes being polled, and the number of female votes outshined male participation with 65.78 percent. The data was mentioned in a comprehensive set of 42 statistical reports released by the poll body.

5. To commemorate the martyrdom of Chhotte Sahibzades, Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, the youngest sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, a three-day annual Shaheedi Sabha, began with religious fervour and ceremonies at Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab. To mark the beginning of the religious programme, Akhand Path of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was started at Gurdwara Jyoti Swarup.

6. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has registered a net addition of 13 lakh 41 thousand members during October this year.

*The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is one of the two main social security agencies under the Government of India’s Ministry of Labour and Employment and is responsible for regulation and management of provident funds in India, the other being Employees’ State Insurance. The EPFO administers the retirement plan for employees in India, which comprises the mandatory provident fund, a basic pension scheme and a disability/death insurance scheme.

7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute 58 lakh SVAMITVA Property Cards today through video conferencing.

*The distribution of SVAMITVA Property Cards across approximately 50 thousand villages spanning 10 States, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and two Union Territories Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

8. The ‘Viksit Panchayat Karmayogi’ initiative was launched on Good Governance Day and commemorates the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The initiative aims to strengthen Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) through enhanced governance tools and knowledge.

9. Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has initiated the Solar Agriculture Feeder Project 2.0, which aims to enhance agricultural energy through reliable solar power.

10. Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, recently expressed gratitude to the Central Government for approving an extensive housing initiative, which includes 6.5 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

13. The 61.4 km Guwahati Metro Rail Phase I is a proposed rapid transit system (MRTS) that will connect four corridors in Guwahati, Assam:

Corridor 2: M. G. Road to Khanapara (Underground)
Corridor 3: Jalukbari to Khanapara (Elevated)
Corridor 4: ISBT to Paltanbazar (Elevated)

14. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for multiple Maharashtra districts from December 26 to 28, predicting rain with thunderstorms and lightning. Farmers are advised to monitor weather updates.

1. The Joint Committee of Parliament on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 held meetings with the principal secretaries and revenue secretaries of the Department of minority affairs of Karnataka, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. During the meeting on Thursday, the committee tried to know about the registered and unregistered properties and the status of the Waqf properties in these states.

2. The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of the reported increase in suicides among tribal people settled in the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram district in Kerala, with about 23 deaths reported in 2024 itself. The Commission has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Kerala.

3. The Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, has recommended the appointments of judges for four different High Courts. The Collegium approved the proposal for the appointment of three judicial officers as judges of the Rajasthan High Court and one each at the Bombay, Allahabad, and Uttarakhand High Courts.

4. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has imposed a penalty of 7 lakh rupees on two competitive coaching institutes and 1 lakh rupees on another institute for advertising misleading claims regarding the results of the Union Public Service Commission Examination 2022 and 2023. The CCPA has also ordered the institutes to discontinue the misleading advertisements with immediate effect.

5. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed that the world looks at India with hope and expectations because of the power of the youth. Addressing Veer Baal Diwas at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Thursday, Mr. Modi said the government’s biggest focus in policy is empowering the youth.
