As 2024 draws to a close and we prepare to welcome 2025, we look back on a transformative and incredible year that has redefined the landscape of our sport around the world.
This year marked our centennial celebration, a remarkable milestone that began with our participation in the Nations Cup Rink Hockey tournament – the very same event where our International Federation, now known as World Skate, was founded in April 1924.
For a hundred years, we’ve been uniting diverse communities who share one common passion: wheels under their feet. This unity was beautifully demonstrated during our first-ever World Skate Day on April 21st, a call to action across the globe which transformed many cities into vibrant celebrations of sports on skating wheels, bringing together athletes, enthusiasts and newcomers in an unprecedented display of community spirit.
The Paris Olympic Games of summer 2024 featured the four biggest skateboard contests of all time. The journey there not only included our March World Skateboarding Tour stop in Dubai, but a pair of Olympic Qualifier Series events held in Shanghai and Budapest straight after.
In front of packed out capacity stadia in the sublime city-centre Place de La Concorde venue loomed over by the iconic Eiffel Tower, and with a global broadcast audience measured in the many millions tuning in, our skateboarders enthralled and elated in equal measure.
The IOC acknowledged our outstanding performance in the “Paris 2024 Audience & Insights Report”, underlining the digital engagment for Olympic Sports, where Skateboarding was among the top 4 sports with Athletics, Gymnastics and Swimming.
In the most-watched Olympic Games of all time, therefore, skateboarding formed one of the absolute centrepieces of the entire extravaganza.

The World Skate Games Italia 2024 marked another revolutionary milestone in our journey. With 34 millions views and nearly 7 million reached followers worldwide, 90 participating countries, 10.800 athletes and 154 world titles awarded, this event redefined excellence in our sports.
By placing our disciplines at the heart of cities, we created not just a sporting event, but a cultural and urban phenomenon which in turn demonstrated extraordinary economic impact for the host nation, while staying true to our commitments to sustainability and youth.
As we close this extraordinary chapter in World Skate’s history, we’re already focused on the horizons ahead, committed to growing and spreading our amazing sports worldwide. The foundations laid in 2024 – from Olympic glory to grassroots development – set the stage for even greater achievements in the years to come.
