Maharashtra: In a move signaling political unity within the NDA, Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde has expressed his full support for the BJP’s decision to appoint the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Shinde, who currently holds the position, declared that he is not a hurdle to the alliance’s plans and will back the leadership’s final choice.
Shinde Backs the NDA’s Vision
Addressing a media gathering after the NDA’s thumping win in the Maharashtra assembly elections, Shinde made it amply clear that he stood by the alliance. “Our government is for the common man. For me, CM stands for ‘Common Man,’ not just Chief Minister,” Shinde said once again, emphasizing the welfare of the people.
Shinde clarified that there were no such differences of opinion in the decision-making process in the coalition and that all decisions about the leadership were taken in perfect coordination. This means power is likely to pass, opening the way for Devendra Fadnavis, the BJP’s Deputy Chief Minister, to take up the top position.
BJP Set to Head Maharashtra
The BJP, with the NDA flag, won with a thumping majority in the elections, strengthening its position in the state. The most likely contender for the position is seen to be Devendra Fadnavis, the prominent BJP leader and former Chief Minister. In his victory speech, Fadnavis thanked the voters and highlighted the commitment of the alliance towards development and governance.
Shinde’s Legacy and Future Role
Shinde’s leadership initiatives include the “Ladki Bahin” welfare scheme, which he calls his “brainchild.” Stepping down from the position of Chief Minister, Shinde has reaffirmed his commitment to public service in whatever form.
United NDA Fron
This display of unity within the NDA is a new beginning for the governance of Maharashtra. With Shinde having graciously stepped down and the BJP preparing to take over, the alliance is likely to concentrate on its promises of development with great support from the public.
The last word on the Chief Minister’s appointment is also expected soon, which would mark the next leg of the political journey of Maharashtra.
