12. In Andhra Pradesh the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is edging closer to resolving its decades-old issue of the presence of non-Hindu employees in its fold. The board has resolved to offer such employees an opportunity for voluntary retirement or transfers to other government departments. This decision was taken at the first meeting of the new trust board headed by its chairman BR Naidu.

13. National Green Tribunal has been informed by the Uttar Pradesh government’s environment department that over 1.12 lakh trees will be felled in the protected forest area in the state to make way for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra route.

14. The Government has selected 28 projects under the Tomato Grand Challenge to address critical issues across the tomato value chain. Tomato Grand Challenge was started last year and one thousand 376 ideas were received from students, faculty, industries and startups.

15. Justice Harjit Singh Bedi, former Supreme Court judge and ex-Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, passed away on Thursday. He is remembered for his significant role in reviewing fake encounter cases in Gujarat, where he recommended further probes into three of 17 cases. He was 78 years.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted searches across five districts of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a case involving terror infiltration and recent attacks on security forces and civilians. The searches were conducted at eight locations in the Reasi, Udhampur, Doda, Ramban, and Kishtwar districts.

1. Reserve Bank of India and the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for promoting the use of local currencies Indian Rupee and Maldivian Rufiyaa in cross-border transactions. The MoU was signed by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and MMA Governor Ahmed Munawar in Mumbai.

2. Government has directed the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to ensure activation of the Universal Account Number (UAN) for employees through Aadhaar-based OTP. Labour and Employment Ministry has directed EPFO to work in a campaign mode with employers to ensure that the maximum number of employers and employees benefit from the Employment Linked Incentive Scheme announced in the Union Budget 2024-25.

3. The Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that by 2030, the country will have a 1000-gigawatt grid connected through the length and breadth of the country. Addressing the UK-India Technology Futures Conference in New Delhi .

1. Over 70 films scheduled to be screened on Day 2 of IFFI Goa : the 55th International Film Festival of India.

2. 82 young artists were awarded with Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar New Delhi. The awards were conferred for the years 2022 and 2023 in a special ceremony by Culture Ministry Secretary Arunish Chawla. The Yuva Puraskar honours young artists in the field of music, dance, drama, folk and tribal art forms. The awards carry purse money of twenty-five thousand rupees and are awarded to artists under the age of 40.

1. General Upendra Dwivedi of the Indian Army during his Five-day-long visit to Nepal called on Prime Minister of Nepal K.P. Sharma Oli and Defence Minister of Nepal Manbir Rai and discussed various aspects of unique and close bilateral defence cooperation between India and Nepal.

PM Oli expressed happiness over the continuity of the exchange of conferring the title of honorary general to the CoASs of India and the same being reciprocated with Nepal as a welcome tradition.

2. An Indian fishing vessel Marthoma with a crew of 13 members reportedly collided with an Indian Naval submarine near Goa on Thursday evening. Search and rescue efforts were immediately launched by the Indian Navy with six ships and aircraft. The Indian Navy said, 11 crew have been rescued so far and efforts for rescuing the remaining two crew is in progress.

3. The 22nd meeting of the India-Russia Working Group on Military Technical Cooperation and Defence Industry of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M&MTC) took place in New Delhi.

The meeting was co-chaired by the Secretary of Defence Production, Sanjeev Kumar, and Russia’s First Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation, A. Boytsov.

5. The top air force commanders of the US, South Korea and Japan have held talks to discuss ways to strengthen their cooperation, such as expanding joint air drills. The talks held over video-conferencing vowed to continuously cooperate to deter the North’s Korea’s evolving threats.
