1. The Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 are scheduled on 20 November. The voting for 288 seats in the state will be conducted in a single phase and the counting of votes will be held on 23 November.

2. In Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a holiday on November 20 for all employees working in businesses and offices within BMC limits to ensure that people can cast their votes.

6. The Telangana State government has decided to provide 100% exemption from road tax and registration fees for Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the State. The new EV policy will come into force from today (Monday). Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the new policy was expected to give a major boost to the adoption of electric vehicles across Telangana.

7. Telangana topped the country in paddy production during the Kharif season, recording a yield of 153 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) from 66.77 lakh acres, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on Sunday.

8. The National People’s Party (NPP) has withdrawn support to the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in Manipur. The party has seven MLAs in the 60-member Manipur Assembly.

9. PM Modi has paid homage to Balasaheb Thackeray on his death anniversary. In his message, he said Balasaheb Thackeray was a visionary, who championed the cause of Maharashtra’s development and the empowerment of Marathi people.

1. Stage-4 restrictions under Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) for stricter anti-pollution measures will be enforced in the entire Delhi-NCR from today. Under GRAP-4, the entry of heavy vehicles from other states will be banned in Delhi. However, trucks carrying essential commodities and providing essential services will be allowed.

2. Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the security situation in Manipur with senior officials in New Delhi. The situation in the state has remained fragile for the past few days. Armed miscreants from both communities in the state have been indulging in violence, leading to loss of life and disruption of public order.

3. Words like ‘Bhangi’, ‘Neech’, ‘Bhikhari’, ‘Mangani’ (‘beggar, lowly person etc.) are not caste names and their use do not warrant charges under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (SC/ST Act), held the Rajasthan High Court recently.

4. The customer care service of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) received a bomb threat, with the caller claiming to be the CEO of the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba. The threat, which was promptly reported to the authorities, has been deemed a hoax by the Mumbai Police, who have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

5. Six persons were injured in an overnight clash between two groups of people at Beldanga in Murshidabad in West Bengal.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of India has intensified its efforts to apprehend Haji Salim, a notorious drug trafficker known as the “Lord of Drugs,” following significant drug seizures linked to his operations. 1. Army chief General Dwivedi to visit Nepal beginning November 20 to boost defence ties
