1. India’s Minister for Communications, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, inaugurated the 25th Meeting of the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC-25) in New Delhi.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a six-day visit to Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana from Saturday. PM Modi will visit Brazil on the 18th and 19th of this month to attend the 19th G20 Summit.

3. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar yesterday held a bilateral meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in New Delhi. During the meeting, both leaders discussed avenues to strengthen the Strategic Partnership between India and Saudi Arabia in the areas including trade, investment, energy, defence, security, culture and consular matters.

4. The 2nd edition of Brands of India, organized by the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), has gathered over 150 Indian apparel brands and white-label manufacturers at the Dubai World Trade Centre. This premier trade event offers a unique sourcing opportunity for retailers, chain and department stores, boutique outlets, wholesalers, agents, distributors, importers, traders, e-commerce platforms, and buying houses from around the world to procure “Made in India” textiles and other value-added products.

5. The India-Malaysia Joint Working Group meeting on cooperation in the field of Public Administration and Governance Reforms was held in New Delhi.

1. World Diabetes Day will be observed globally today to raise awareness about diabetes, a significant public health challenge impacting millions worldwide.

2. SpaceX achieved another milestone by launching the Koreasat-6A satellite. This event took place at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The mission was important for both the satellite deployment and the performance of the reusable rocket.

3. Sri Lanka faces a pivotal parliamentary election on Thursday, a crucial test for newly elected President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Today’s vote may not only test Mr. Dissanayake’s vision for systemic change but also reflect the public’s continued appetite for a shift away from the traditional power players who have dominated Sri Lankan politics for decades.

4. President of Nepal Ramchandra Paudel has urged United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres to make developed countries aware of the adverse impact of climate change.

5. In Ecuador, at least 15 inmates were killed and 14 others wounded in clashes between inmates at the largest prison. The violence broke out in a wing of the Litoral Penitentiary in the southwest city of Guayaquil.

6. British author Samantha Harvey has won the 2024 Booker Prize for her novel Orbital, the first book set in space to win the prize. Orbital contemplates the world from a different viewpoint as it follows a team of astronauts aboard the International Space Station. It is the biggest-selling book on the shortlist in the United Kingdom.

7. Several flights between Australia and the popular Indonesian province of Bali have been grounded after an erupting volcano sent a column of hot ash miles into the sky. Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki, on the remote island of Flores in Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara province, has been active since a series of eruptions last week killed at least 10 people, covering towns and villages in volcanic ash and forcing tens of thousands of residents to flee.

8. In Yemen, at least 10 Houthi operatives were killed in two separate US drone strikes in the central Al-Bayda province. A Yemeni government military source told.
