1. PM Modi congratulates Mauritius’ PM-elect Dr Navin Ramgoolam on his election victory. The Prime Minister Modi extended an invitation to Dr Ramgoolam to visit India.

2. The first Deputy Prime Minister of 🇷🇺Russia Denis Manturov called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the conversation, both the leaders exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in various areas, including trade and economic ties, energy, and connectivity among others.

3. The 83rd annual session of the Indian Roads Congress concluded yesterday. Eighteen technical sessions were organized during the session in which experts and engineers from the country and abroad gave their presentations. This four-day session was held in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh.

4. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal announced that a new campus of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) will be opened in Dubai soon. While Virtually addressing the 57th convocation of IIFT in New Delhi Mr Goyal emphasised the pivotal role the young graduates can play in securing a bright future of India.

5. The India-Sri Lanka ferry services between Nagapattinam and Kankesanthurai have been halted due to bad weather. Director of IndSri Ferry Service, Niranjan Nandagopan, told that regular ferry services will resume in January with the easing of the seas. The ferry service was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year.

6. The Russian Business Centre is set to open in New Delhi on November 12, 2024. This initiative aims to foster business ties between Russia and India, providing a platform for interaction between the two countries’ business communities. The event will be attended by notable figures, including Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov.

7. Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif called the deadly Quetta attack part of India’s proxy war against Pakistan and accused the Afghan Taliban of “collusion and ignorance”. Nearly 30 people were killed and more than 60 others were injured in Saturday’s attack by the Baloch Liberation Army separatist group in Quetta.

1. Polling for Sri Lanka’s General Elections on Nov 14. Prominent candidates contesting the elections include Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya, opposition SJB leader Sajith Premadasa, former Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Vijitha Herath. Over 8800 candidates are in the fray to be elected through 196 seats from 22 electoral districts and 29 national list seats.

2. A D30 De-addiction and Disability Awareness Summit took place in Kathmandu on Monday to discuss disabilities caused by drug abuse, especially in youth. President of Nepal, Ram Sahay Yadav, distributed International Excellence and Youth Icon Awards in the event to individuals who have contributed to the field of drug de-addiction.

3. U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said that Tom Homan, the former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, will be in charge of the country’s borders in his new administration.

4. Russia denied the reports claiming that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephonic conversation following the Republican candidate’s victory in last week’s presidential election.

Earlier, several media outlets reported that US President-elect Trump and Russian President Putin held a telephonic conversation recently. The report mentioned that Trump had urged Putin to avoid any escalation in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

5. In Japan, the Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Shigeru Ishiba was re-elected as the country’s Prime Minister after securing the most votes in both houses of the Japanese Diet.

7. In 🇦🇺Australia, the government has appointed the country’s first anti-slavery commissioner. Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus announced that Chris Evans, a former senator and human rights official, will serve as the inaugural Australian anti-slavery commissioner for a five-year term commencing in December. Dreyfus said in a statement that modern slavery deprives victims of their dignity, fundamental rights, and freedoms.

8. A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 struck eastern Cuba last night, causing widespread damage in Santiago de Cuba and surrounding areas.

9. At least 24 people were killed and several others injured in an Israeli airstrike, in southern and eastern Lebanon. According to Lebanon’s National News Agency.

10. In Bangladesh, the advisory council of the interim government, headed by Prof. Muhammad Yunus, expanded with the oath-taking of three new advisers. With this, the interim government now comprises 24 advisers.

11. Taliban attends UN Climate Talks For First Time, Seeks US Support For Crisis Response: In a significant move, Afghanistan, under Taliban leadership, marked its presence at the United Nations-hosted climate talks, highlighting the critical air quality issues plaguing Asian nations, particularly during the harsh winter months.
