The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has launched a Nationwide DLC Campaign 3.0 in November 2024 to streamline life certificate submission for pensioners through Face Authentication technology. This method allows pensioners to submit certificates via Aadhaar-based recognition on Android smart phones. Jeevan Pramaan, the Government of India’s Digital Life Certificate for Pensioners Scheme, aims to solve this exact issue by digitizing the entire life certificate application process.

7. The Election Commission of India has asked all political parties to strictly follow model code of conduct during campaigning for assembly elections in Jharkhand. While holding meeting with representatives of different political parties in Ranchi, State Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar advised them to avoid misguiding electorates by making false promises.

8. Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram, inaugurates the 8-day-long “Purvottar Aadi Mahotsav” in Guwahati. He said that this year, 3.5 lakh crore rupees will be spent for the upliftment of the tribals, and 25,000 kilometres of roads will be developed in tribal-dominated areas.

9. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has said that the state government is planning to establish three more Medical Colleges in the state in PPP mode. He said that the medical colleges will be in East Siang, Namsai and West Kameng districts.

10. The much-anticipated Cuttack Baliyatra 2024 is set to begin on November 15, marking an eight-day celebration of Odisha’s rich maritime history along the Mahanadi River.

11. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy yesterday held the Musi River Rejuvenation Sankalpa Padayatra, starting from Sangem in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, to highlight the benefits of the Musi River Rejuvenation Project. Musi is one of the most polluted rivers in the country, affecting people’s health and also degrading fertile land.

12. In Madhya Pradesh, women will now get 35% reservation instead of 33% in all government jobs in the state. This proposal has been given the green signal in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav.

13. The cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a low-pressure area by Sunday, potentially moving westward toward the Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka coasts.

1. In Chhattisgarh, three Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces yesterday. A joint team of CRPF’s Cobra battalion and District Reserve Guard-DRG was on a search operation after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of Maoists in the Usur-Basaguda-Pamed area of Bijapur district.

2. In Jammu and Kashmir, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Sopore area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The Madras High Court on Thursday (November 7, 2024) dismissed a writ petition filed in 2017, seeking a direction to the Centre to consider a plea to revoke the Padma Vibhushan award conferred on Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev on the grounds that his Isha Foundation was facing multiple charges and court cases.

5. In Manipur, a Hmar tribe alleges 31-year-old teacher killed by Meitei militants was allegedly burnt to death by militants last night in a village inhabited by the Hmar tribal community in Jiribam district.

6. The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed Indian Police Service (IPS) officer D Roopa Moudgil to withdraw her plea seeking quashing of the criminal defamation case initiated against her by Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Rohini Sindhuri.

But IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri informed the Supreme Court that she is not interested in settling her ongoing defamation case against IPS officer Roopa Moudgil. The court was told that both parties could not reach an agreement, and the case will proceed to trial.

The case originated when Roopa allegedly made defamatory statements about Sindhuri on social media, accusing her of misconduct. These allegations included claims that Sindhuri shared private photos with fellow IAS officers. Following these posts, the Karnataka government transferred both officers to defuse the public spat.

2. A joint military exercise titled AUSTRAHIND commenced in Pune, India, on November 8, 2024. This exercise marks the third edition of AUSTRAHIND, which aims to enhance military cooperation between India and Australia, focusing on interoperability in sub-conventional operations within semi-urban and semi-desert terrains. The event is scheduled to run until 21 November 2024.
