New Delhi, 21 October 2024: The 4th Hockey India Senior Women Inter-Department National Championship came to an exciting conclusion at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in New Delhi as Railway Sports Promotion Board claimed the title, defeating Indian Oil Corporation Ltd – Women in the Final. Central Board of Direct Taxes secured Third place after overcoming Sports Authority of India.
The Final saw Railway Sports Promotion Board defeat Indian Oil Corporation Ltd – Women, 3-1. After a goalless first quarter, Deepika (18’) gave Indian Oil Corporation Ltd – Women the lead. However, Railway Sports Promotion Board rallied to find an equaliser through Vandana Katariya (19’) soon after.
Minutes before the third interval, Navneet Kaur slotted into the back of the net to make it 2-1 for Railway Sports Promotion Board. In the final quarter, Salima Tete (49’) scored to clinch the title for the Railway Sports Promotion Board.
In the battle for Third place, Central Board of Direct Taxes edged past Sports Authority of India 0-0, (3-2 SO), in a gripping encounter. After the scores were locked at 0-0 at the end of regulation time, Neelam, Usha, and Vaishnavi Phalke converted successfully during the shootout. Meanwhile, Goalkeeper, Deepa Sharma only conceded twice to secure the victory of Central Board of Direct Taxes.
