1. *CID launches probe into multi-crore bank fraud in Andhra Pradesh* : The scam at the ICICI Bank in Chilakaluripet and Narasaraopet of Palnadu district, involving several crore, has escalated, prompting the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (AP CID) to launch an investigation.

2. The Bombay High Court has granted bail to Sachin Sawant, a 2008 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in June last year on charges of money laundering.

3. Paytm, on Friday, apologized for a controversial social media post made by its CEO, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, about the passing of industrialist Ratan Tata. The post, which has since been removed, faced backlash for being seen as insensitive and inappropriate in tone. Vijay Shekhar Sharma posted controversial statement: ‘Ok Tata Bye Bye’ post.

Additional director general of police M Chandra Sekhar, who heads the SIT which is investigating illegal mining cases, on Friday lodged a police complaint against Union minister HD Kumaraswamy and his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy for allegedly threatening him to scuttle the probe against the former CM.

The Mysuru Darbhanga Express (train no 12578) met with an accident at Kavaraipettai near Gummidipoondi in the Chennai division at around 8.50 yesterday night. The train which was travelling towards Andhra Pradesh collided with a stationary goods train on Friday. All passengers rescued.

1. The Income Tax Department has collected over 13 lakh 57 thousand crore rupees as direct tax for the financial year 2024-25 so far. The collection includes personal income tax of over seven lakh crore rupees and corporate tax of over six lakh crore rupees.

2. The Reserve Bank of India has instructed all Payment Service Providers, including all banks and non-bank entities, to review their payment systems and improve the accessibility of digital payment systems for Persons with Disabilities.

3. Noel Tata has been unanimously appointed Chairperson of Tata Trust, the philanthropic arm of the Tata Group. He was appointed chairman of the Tata Trusts on 11 October 2024, after the death of his half-brother Ratan Tata. Tata Trusts holds a 66% stake in Tata Sons, the holding company of the numerous firms of the Tata group.

Noel Tata is the son of Naval Tata and Simone Tata. He is the half-brother of Ratan Tata, the ex-chairman of the Tata Group, and Jimmy Tata.

1. Japanese-Indian anime film Ramayana (1993): The Legend of Prince Rama was supposed to be released in India on October 18. The Legend of Prince Rama is a Japanese-Indian anime film which was made in 1993.

2. The Secretary of the Union Information Broadcasting Ministry Sanjay Jaju held a meeting with the Principal Secretary of the Tourism and Culture Department Sheo Shekhar Shukla in Bhopal to discuss ways to promote film production and exhibition.

3. Trishika Kumari Devi, wife of Mysore-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, has given birth to her second child – a baby boy – at a private hospital in Yadavagiri in Mysuru at 8.45 am on Friday, which also happens to be the Ayudha Puja day.

Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja (YKC) Wadiyar, a member of Bettada Kote family, was adopted by Pramoda Devi Wadiyar on February 23, 2015 following the death of her husband Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar on December 10, 2013. He was coronated as the 27th Maharaja of the Yadu dynasty on 28 May 2015.

1. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has commended the Army for the high standard of operational preparedness and capabilities. He was virtually addressing the second Army Commanders’ Conference in Gangtok, Sikkim.

2. The 3rd edition of the Indian Navy’s Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Seminar, Swavlamban- 2024 will be held in New Delhi on the 28th and 29th of October.

3. Indian Army has rolled out its first overhauled T-90 Bhishma tank, further enhancing its operational readiness. The T-90 Bhishma, the Army’s main battle tank since 2003, is known for its firepower, speed, and protection. With this overhaul, the tank has become even more powerful and lethal.

4. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi is set to visit Japan next week, marking his first foreign trip as the Indian Army chief on 14 Oct.

5. Indian Coast Guard recovered mortal remains of missing pilot 55 km south-west of Porbandar. The Advanced Light Helicopter MK-III helicopter fell into the sea on the night of the second of last month when it took off to provide medical aid to a crew member of a motor tanker, Hari Leela. The helicopter had two pilots and two aircrew divers.

In a tragic incident, two Indian Army Agniveers have lost their lives and their instructor, an Army havildar, was injured when a light field gun (LFG) shell exploded around 12.10pm on Thursday during a field firing exercise at the Devlali field firing range of Artillery Centre at Nashik Road in Maharashtra. The police identified the two deceased as Vishwarajsinh Mahipatsinh Gohil (20) from Rajasthan and Saikat Shit (21) from West Bengal. A court of inquiry has been initiated to determine the cause of the accident during field firing.
