The chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, Ratan Naval Tata, who was also the recipient of Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan, breathed his last on Wednesday (October 9) at the Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. He was 86. The death of this national icon has the whole world grieving, with political leaders, business entrepreneurs, and other public figures sharing their condolences on social media.

This loss seems personal. Bharat has lost its ‘Ratan’! It is truly heartbreaking to hear about Ratan Tata’s passing. Sir is a huge part of our day-to-day life. It’s hard to imagine a day without using some or the other TATA product. He was such an ardent dog lover that stray dogs were allowed inside the Taj, his five-star hotel. Just before passing away, he built a dedicated charitable hospital for small animals. Very few know that the Tata group produced a film called ‘Aitbaar’ with Amitabh Bachchan. But the film failed, and he never invested money in any other film project after that. Thank you, sir, for everything you’ve done for India and for impacting countless lives. Your legacy will inspire us forever. Rest in peace, Sir Ratan Tata. It feels like a personal loss because I have grown up listening about him from my Nana Ji. Both my Mama’s and Mausa’s, as all of them worked for Tata Steel in Jamshedpur, and right now, when I am writing this, my younger mama told me that the whole city has gone quiet; there is no charm left for Durga Puja in JSR. I remember seeing him once during the Tata Steel founders day celebration on 3rd March long back. I also remember when in 1989 a fire broke during theFounders Day celebrations or the 2008 Taj attacks and how he personally was present to handle the situation. Whether it’s dealing with humans or taking care of stray animals, he has touched hearts. My favorite memory/pic of his is with my mama, which I have been watching since childhood.
