Congress Raises Questions Over the Result of Haryana Elections, Accusing EVM Tampering

Congress

Haryana: The Congress party has vociferously raised doubts over the legitimacy of the Haryana Assembly election results, casting an accusation against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of having manipulated Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). While addressing a press conference, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that his party would not accept the outcome, which he described as “unprecedented” and “counterintuitive” to the grassroots realities in the state.

Accusations of EVM Failure

Working of EVM machines

Ramesh has pinpointed specific complaints over the working of EVMs in various districts like Hisar, Mahendragarh, and Panipat. The leaders of Congress claimed that EVMs having high or full battery strength have been randomly favoring some candidates from the BJP party, and these coincidence went in line with the fake voting.

Ramesh added that the result of the election indicates that manipulation conquered the acts of democracy, which means that the democratic setup is being overtaken or defeated.

Strategy to present before the Election Commission:

To address these allegations, the Congress party has decided to present their grievances before the Election Commission formally. They contended that the serious anomalies in the counting process and the EVM performance were never allowed to represent the true voice of voters. Ramesh mentioned here also that the party will collect further evidence relating to the complaints before filing those complaints to the commission formally.

Election Commission’s Response

The Election Commission branded the allegations by the Congress as “wholly irresponsible” and bereft of credible evidence to prove its charges. Still, the party is unmoved and claims that the results were against the people’s expectations in Haryana.

The nature of the debate undershoots a general growing tension in Indian electoral politics at large, but especially with respect to the use and verifiability of EVMs.

Haryana election in a big chaos

This political scene is charged as the Congress is preparing to raise its allegations about the Haryana election outcome. The outcome reflects broad concerns over electoral integrity and the democratic process in the country. The coming days will be important when the Congress attempts to substantiate its claims before the Election Commission. While such a move by Congress sends massive political tensions shifting in Haryana, it also reflects deeper anxieties within sections of the country about India’s electoral system, EVMs in particular, and the lack of transparency. As Congress gears up to take this as far as it can, the political situation in the state and its implications for further elections will be watched with keen interest.

And the evolving scenario threw light upon the complexities of Indian electoral politics, especially after a closely contested election. Once again, both parties will probably be in a log jamming in such an inflammatory scenario when the response of the Election Commission to the allegations may bring forward disputes over the legitimacy of the election results.
