1. President Smt Droupadi Murmu meets President of Maldives Mohamed Muizzu in New Delhi.
2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Vientiane in Laos from the 10th of this month. During the visit, PM Modi will attend the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit, with Laos as the current Chair of ASEAN.
The Prime Minister is also expected to hold bilateral meetings on the margins of the summits.
3. India will host the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) of the International Telecommunication Union in New Delhi from the 14th to the 24th of October. For the first time, this event is being organized in the Asia-Pacific region.
4. The Red Panda Program of Darjeeling’s Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park has been selected as a finalist for the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) Conservation Award 2024. The winner for the WAZA award will be announced on the 7th of next month at the 79th WAZA Annual Conference in Australia’s Tarongo Zoo.
5. Nepal and India have reached the B2B Framework Agreement regarding the development of petroleum infrastructure in Nepal. Recently, Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) inked a Business to Business (B2B) Framework Agreement in New Delhi.
6. India took part in the 44th session of the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU) held in Dresden, Germany, from October 2-6, 2024.
7. Ajit Vinayak Gupte has been named as India’s next Ambassador to Germany, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs. He is currently serving as the Ambassador to Egypt.
8. India’s Minister of Health, JP Nadda, has been elected as the Chairperson for the 77th Session (RC77) of the World Health Organization (WHO) South-East Asia Region.
