BJP had bagged 48 seats in Haryana

1. Obliterating exit poll predictions, the Bharatiya Janata Party staged a historic hat-trick in Haryana while it bagged the majority of assembly seats in Jammu though the National Conference-Congress combine looked set to take power in J&K as results for assembly elections emerged on Tuesday.

BJP had bagged 48 seats in Haryana, with the Congress managing 37, while the Indian National Lok Dal netted two and three seats went to independent candidates. BJP’s OBC candidate Nayab Saini to stay Haryana CM.

Former Haryana deputy chief minister and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leader Dushyant Chautala has lost from Uchana Kalan constituency and finished 5th. Speaker of the outgoing Haryana Assembly Gian Chand Gupta lost to Congress candidate Chander Mohan from Panchkula assembly constituency.

2. J&K Assembly election results : National Conference won 42 seats, BJP won 29, INC won 6, JKPDP won 3, People Conference, CPI(M) and AAP won 1 seat each, and 7 seats were won by Independent candidates

National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah said that Omar Abdullah will be the next Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

3. Vinesh Phogat of Congress won from the Julana seat in the Haryana Assembly Elections. Vinesh won with a margin of over 6,000 votes over Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Yogesh Kumar.

4. The Union Cabinet, scheduled to meet today on October 9, is expected to take up a proposal to release an ad hoc grant of Rs 14,425 crore for the development of the Polavaram irrigation project (PIP) in Andhrapradesh until its completion.

5. On 6 October 2024, the upper stage of India’s PSLV-C37 re-entered Earth’s atmosphere, marking the end of its nearly eight-year journey in space. Eight years after it launched from India with a record 104 satellites to space, the upper stage of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle has safely crashed over the Atlantic Ocean.

PSLV-C37 was launched by Isro on February 15, 2017. It made history by deploying a record 104 satellites in a single mission.

6. The Ministry of Education organised a workshop on ‘Volunteering for ULLAS’ on Monday, October 7, aimed at fostering youth volunteerism from Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) and achieving full literacy across India as envisaged in the National Education Policy 2020.

7. Labour and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya announced the establishment of ten new Employee’s State Insurance Corporation -ESIC medical colleges. Addressing the 194th ESIC Meeting in New Delhi.

8. Prime Minister and senior BJP leader Narendra Modi has extended gratitude to the people of Haryana for giving a mandate to the BJP in the Haryana Assembly elections. He also termed the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections as very special.

9. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today launched the ‘Humsafar Policy’ in New Delhi to enhance the convenience of traveling on national highways and accelerate the development of wayside amenities.

10. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of development projects worth over seven thousand six hundred crore rupees in Maharashtra on Wednesday through video conference.

11. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held high-level discussions with Union Ministers in Delhi, aiming to advance infrastructure and economic development projects for the state. Key projects were discussed with Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, including the Vijayawada Eastern Bypass, Hyderabad-Vijayawada expressway expansion, and the Kuppam-Hosur Greenfield Project.

12. In Bihar, leaders and workers of the LJP (R) and other parties paid rich tributes to former Union Minister and founder of the LJP, Ram Vilas Paswan, on his fourth death anniversary. Union Minister Chirag Paswan, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, and other leaders paid tributes at Saharbanni village in Khagaria.

13. The Assam government has started an important program called the ‘Nijut Moina’ scheme to fight against child marriage. This initiative aims to encourage girls to continue their education.

14. The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of heavy rains in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Moghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur. The Meteorological Department has asked the general public to remain alert regarding these conditions.

15. First day of the puja of Goddess Saraswati during the Navratri celebrations is known as ‘Saraswati Avahan’. The word ‘avahan’ signifies invocation and therefore this ritual is observed to invoke the blessing of Goddess Saraswati. Usually the last three days of grand Navratri Puja is dedicated for worshipping Goddess Saraswati. The practice of Saraswati Avahan is observed on the ‘Mahasaptami’ (7th day) during the Shukla Paksh.

1. The Indian Air Force has imposed flying restrictions on its Dhruv advanced light helicopter (ALH) fleet after a helicopter deployed for flood relief in Bihar had to carry out a precautionary landing in water on October 2 following a technical failure.

2. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a telephonic conversation yesterday with the German Federal Defence Minister, Boris Pistorius. Rajnath Singh said in a social media post that during the call, the leaders discussed ways to strengthen defence industrial collaboration and supply chain resilience.

3. Indian Air Force celebrates 92nd Raising Day at Tambaram Air Force Station near Chennai.

4. Minister of State for Highways Harish Malhotra flagged off the 7000 km long ‘Vayu Veer Vijeta’ car rally from Thoise in Ladakh on the occasion of Indian Air Force Day. The rally features various Air warriors of the Indian Air Force and veterans from the Uttarakhand War Memorial.

The IAF-UWM rally is being led by Wing Commander Vijay Prakash Bhatt of IAF adventure cell. The car rally will move via Kargil, Srinagar, Jammu, Dehradun and culminate in Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh on 29th of this month.

5. India’s Defence Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh, launched two key initiatives—ADITI 2.0 and DISC 12—at DefConnect 4.0 in Delhi. These initiatives aim to strengthen India’s defence technology ecosystem by encouraging innovation and providing financial support for new ideas.

What is ADITI 2.0?
ADITI 2.0 focuses on 19 technology challenges that cover advanced areas like Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Technology, military communication systems, and anti-drone technology.

6. The Indian Naval Ships Tir and Shardul, along with the Indian Coast Guard Ship Veera, from the First Training Squadron (1TS) of the Indian Navy, have successfully arrived in Muscat, Oman, as part of their long-range training deployment. This visit underscores the Indian Navy’s commitment to enhancing maritime cooperation and strengthening ties with regional partners.

7. The militants have reportedly abducted an Indian Territorial Army jawan from Shangus in Kokernag area of Anantnag district. Army along with J&K Police has launched a large-scale search operation in the area.
