1. India has moved up to 39th place out of 133 countries in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2024. This shows a big improvement in how India supports innovation. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said.

2. India will host the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) from 14th to 24th October 2024.

3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu about recent developments in West Asia. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, terrorism has no place in the world.

4. The Prime Minister of Jamaica Dr. Andrew Holness has arrived in New Delhi on a four-day visit to India.

1. Shigeru Ishiba has been chosen as the new leader of Japan🇯🇵 Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), replacing Fumio Kishida, who resigned due to corruption scandals and economic problems.

2. NATO plans to set up a new land command in Finland near the 🇷🇺Russian border in 2025, to lead land force operations in northern Europe during potential military conflicts. Finland, which joined NATO last year after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, is preparing for the alliance’s presence on its territory.

3. In the 🇺🇸 United States, Hurricane Helene has claimed 116 lives nationwide so far after making landfall in Florida.

4. In 🇳🇵Nepal, the death toll from flood and landslides caused by incessant rainfall has reached nearly 210. Over 4,500 people have been rescued so far.

5. U.S President Joe Biden has approved 567 million dollars to Taiwan for defence support. According to the White House, Biden has delegated the authority to Secretary of State, Antony Blinken to direct the drawdown of the amount for defense articles, services of the Department of Defense, and military education and training to provide assistance to Taiwan.

6. Dubai Hosts Global Hospitality Leaders at Future-Focused Summit. The Future Hospitality Summit has returned to Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah for a three-day event from September 30 to October 2. This year’s summit, the largest to date, is set to bring together over 1,500 industry leaders.

7. Sri Lanka’s inflation rate fell to minus 0.5 per cent in September 2024, down from 0.5 per cent in August, marking the first deflation in nearly four decades.

8. Russia launched several drones targeting the Ukranian capital city Kyiv yesterday. Ukrainian forces said that they had shot down 67 of the 73 drones and one of the three missiles fired by Russia.

9. Israel has launched a series of air raids on Houthi targets in Yemen, marking a new front in the ongoing Middle East conflict.

10. In Iran, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) today confirmed the death of one of its senior commanders, Abbas Nilforoushan, in Israel’s recent attacks on Lebanon’s capital Beirut.
