1. India has risen to 39th position among 133 global economies in the Global Innovation Index 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has termed this as a remarkable feat.

2. The 8th meeting of the India-Myanmar Joint Trade Committee was hosted by India in New Delhi on Friday. The primary focus of the meeting was to discuss potential areas of cooperation like shipping, Textile, Health, Power, Transport, and Connectivity, as key avenues for collaboration.

3. India has been elected to the fifteen-member steering committee of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network) during a plenary session in Beijing, as announced by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on 26 September 2024.

This election follows a multi-stage voting process and underscores India’s commitment to addressing international corruption and financial crime.

4. India has condemned the act of vandalism at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir at Sacramento in California in United States. The incident took place on the 24th of this month.

5. Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu has said that he is planning to visit India as soon as possible.He also praised the “very strong” bilateral relationship between the two countries.

1. In 🇮🇩Indonesia, at least 15 workers were killed and 25 others missing after an unlicensed gold mine collapsed in West Sumatra.

2. 🇮🇱Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Reaffirming his country’s commitment to peace.

3. The central banks of Indonesia and Malaysia renewed their Local Currency Bilateral Swap Agreement (LCBSA) of up to 5.42 billion dollars on Friday. According to a joint statement released by Bank Indonesia (BI) and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), the agreement renewal is effective for five years. The banks’ first agreement was signed in 2019 and was extended in 2022.

4. Liberal Democratic Party leader, Shigeru Ishiba is set to become Japan’s next prime minister after winning his party’s leadership contest in a crowded race.

5. Israel has intensified its military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, rejecting proposals for a ceasefire despite growing international pressure. The conflict has seen its deadliest week since the 1975-1990 Lebanese Civil War, raising fears of a wider regional conflagration.

6. Pakistan has requested the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to provide an additional USD 1.5 billion loan to tackle the effects of climate change in the country.
