1. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu has appealed to all educational institutions and teachers to encourage daughters to acquire higher education and become self-reliant. The President was addressing the convocation ceremony of the Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya in Indore.

(a) The President has also asserted that only cleanliness will make the country healthy and developed. She addressed the Safai Mitra Sammelan at Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.

(b) The President Murmu will be on two-day visit to Jharkhand from today. The President will grace the centenary celebration of the ICAR-National Institute of Secondary Agriculture at Namkum in Ranchi.

2. Addressing election rallies in Katra and Srinagar, the Prime Minister said the BJP was committed to restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir as promised in Parliament. He also said that no power on earth can bring Article 370 and Article 35 A back in Jammu and Kashmir.

3. Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah says, White Revolution 2.0 will lead to women empowerment and strengthen organic farming among several other benefits.

4. PM Modi will visit Wardha, Maharashtra, on Friday. He will participate in the National ‘PM Vishwakarma’ Program there, marking one year of progress under PM Vishwakarma.

7. The Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the government is aiming to reduce the import of approximately 22 lakh crore fossil fuel to around four lakh crore in the coming years with the use of hydrogen.

8. Sikkim’s Chief Minister and Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party chief, Prem Singh Tamang extended his support for the ‘One Nation, One Election’ system approved by the Union Cabinet.

9. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has launched a new MSME Policy- 2024 to mainly tackle six key challenges faced by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The policy involves a 4 thousand crore rupees investment over five years.

10. Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankar will visit the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. During his three days visit to the Union Territories, starting from today.

11. The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the PM-AASHA schemes to ensure fair pricing for farmers and manage price volatility of essential commodities. PM-AASHA (Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan) aims to provide remunerative prices to farmers.

12. Telangana is all set to scrap rickety and polluting vehicles from 1 Jan 2025. Vehicles which are 15 years or older and fail to pass the required fitness tests will no longer be allowed to be registered or ply on roads.

13. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya are expected to witness heavy rainfall at isolated places Sunday onwards.

1. The West Bengal Medical Council has canceled the registration of former principal of R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, Dr. Sandip Ghosh. He is currently in CBI custody in connection with the rape and murder case at the institute.

2. Junior doctors protesting the rape-murder of their colleague in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital have called off the month-long strike and will be resuming the emergency services from Saturday (Sep 21).

3. In Bihar, 15 miscreants have been arrested in connection with the torching of 21 houses belonging to the Dalit community in the Krishna Nagar area of Nawada district. According to police, the houses were set on fire allegedly over a land dispute.

4. The Maharashtra government has terminated the Rs 3,000 crore contract with Chennai-based public sector United India Insurance (UII) for implementing the state’s flagship health insurance scheme — the integrated Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) — citing “unsatisfactory response” from the insurer.

1. India is on track to become the third largest economy by fiscal 2030-31, driven by a robust projected annual growth rate of 6.7%, the credit rating agency S&P Global said in its report called India forward Emerging Perspectives.

2. India has now become the sixth largest market in the MSCI All Country World Investable Market Index (ACWI IMI), surpassing China and narrowly behind France. As of August 2024, India’s weight in the index stands at 2.35%, surpassing China’s 2.24%, with France just 3 basis points ahead of India.

Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama to release in Indian theatres on October 18. The Legend of Prince Rama is set to make its theatrical debut across India, releasing in Hindi, English, Tamil, and Telugu. The teaser and the poster was unveiled by Geek Pictures India.

Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama is a Japanese-Indian animated film that retells the classic Indian epic, the Ramayana. Released in 1992, the film was co-produced by Japan’s Yugo Sako and India’s Ram Mohan, blending animation styles from both countries.

1. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Habitats Trust and HCL Foundation for marine conservation in New Delhi. The primary objective of the initiative is to implement critical conservation efforts, including the removal of ghost nets, and mapping and classifying areas affected by ghost gear.

2. To mark successful completion of training of 148 Air Traffic Surveillance Services (ATSS) course and 112 Air Traffic Management and Air Laws course, a graduation ceremony was held at Air Traffic Control Officers’ Training Establishment (ATCOTE) on Thursday. Air Marshal S Shrinivas, Commandant, Air Force Academy, graced the occasion as Reviewing Officer.

3. Exercise AIKYA is a two-day national event organized by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Army Southern Command in Chennai. The main goal is to improve how different organizations work together and prepare for disasters.

4. Cadets from the National Cadet Corp’s (NCC) Kerala and Lakshadweep Directorate was adjudged the best directorate at the Inter Directorate Services Shooting Competition (IDSSC) held as a part of the Thal Sena Camp (TSC) in New Delhi.

The team of 34 cadets from the directorate outperformed 578 cadets at the event organised under the aegis of the Director General, NCC, from September 2 to 13.
