1. The President Smt. Droupadi Murmu will be on a visit to Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand from today. She will grace the 18th convocation of Malaviya National Institute of Technology at Jaipur.

(a) On the 19th of September, the President will address Safai Mitra Sammelan and lay the foundation stone for the Indore-Ujjain Six Lane Road Project at Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.

(b) On the 20th of this month, President Murmu will grace and address the centenary celebration of the ICAR-National Institute of Secondary Agriculture Ranchi in Jharkhand.

2. Assembly elections for Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir will be held from September 18 to October 1: A Stage set for first phase of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir today; Twenty-four seats spread over seven districts to go to polls in this phase. Polling for the second phase, in the Union Territory, will take place on the 25th of September and the third phase will be held on the 1st of October.

3. PM Modi lays foundation stone and dedicates to the Nation Railway Projects worth over 2800 crore rupees at Bhubaneswar in Odisha; Also lays foundation stone for National Highway Projects worth more than 1000 crore rupees.

4. PM Modi launched ‘SUBHADRA’, the flagship Scheme of Odisha government. It is the largest, single women-centric scheme and is expected to cover over one crore women.

8. IPS officer Manoj Kumar Verma has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Kolkata Police.

9. Haryana Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapoor has said that more than 29 thousand police personnel of Haryana Police and 225 companies of paramilitary forces will be deployed to conduct the voting for the assembly elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner.

10. In Bihar, the world-famous Pitripaksha Mela was started in the pilgrimage city of Gaya. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha inaugurated the event at the function organized at Vishnu Pad temple. It will conclude on 2nd October.

11. In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav inaugurated Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras in 50 district hospitals of the state. These will be operated through the Red Cross.

12. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has issued a warning of thunderstorms and lightning in various districts of Telangana on September 20 and 21.

13. The Congress on Tuesday appointed Charanjit Singh Channi and Mukesh Agnihotri as AICC senior observers for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election.

14. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha jointly inaugurated the newly built Sidheshwari Temple at Barkathal in Tripura on 16 September 2024. Yogi Adityanath also laid the foundation stone for the Ved Vidyalaya at Chitta Dham, Barakathal, Mohanpur, West Tripura.

15. The Ministry of Jal Shakti will organize the India Water Week 2024 from 17th to 20th September. It is a 4-day conference and exhibition which is India’s international water resources event.

16. India is preparing to create a carbon market through the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS), first announced in June 2023. This plan is designed to help reduce harmful emissions in different industries.

17. In Telangana, Hyderabad’s Balapur Ganesh laddu, a highly anticipated event every year, was auctioned on Tuesday, fetching Rs 30 lakh and one thousand. BJP leader from Balapur, Kolan Shankar Reddy, won the bid. This annual auction happens on the final day of the Ganesh idol immersion. Last year, the laddu was auctioned for Rs 27 lakh.

18. PITRU PAKSHA 2024 : According to the Hindu calender, Pitru Paksha – also known as the Shradh period – starts on the Pratipada Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada. This continues for 16 days and ends on Mahalaya Amavasya, also called Sarva Pitru Amavasya. This year, it will end on October 2.

1. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that the state government has accepted three out of four demands of the protesting junior doctors. The Chief Minister urged the junior doctors to join their duty. Junior doctors in Kolkata are holding protests over a rape-murder case, demanding justice.

2. A shocking revelation has emerged from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where over a dozen medical aspirants were discovered to have undergone religious conversion to secure admission into a minority medical college. This alarming incident, which is currently under investigation by local authorities, appears to violate the provisions of the Unlawful Conversions of Religious Act, 2021 (UPPUCRA-2021).

3. Taking note of “bulldozer action” against alleged illegal houses and shops of offenders, the Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered that no demolition of properties of persons accused of crimes can take place without its prior permission.

4. The Supreme Court on Tuesday closed criminal proceedings against 30 Army personnel accused of killing 13 civilians in a botched operation to ambush militants in Nagaland’s Mon district on 4 December 2021, for want of sanction by the Centre under Section 6 of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958.

1. The Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, has said that developing countries need more than five trillion dollars to meet their climate goals by 2030. Addressing the 19th edition of the CII-ITC Sustainability Summit yesterday in New Delhi.

2. The Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman will launch the NPS Vatsalya scheme on 18 September 2024, in New Delhi. School children will also join the launch.

3. The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has selected Infosys to develop its next-generation digital platform as part of its DIVE (Digital Innovation and Value Enhancement) programme. This new platform will serve as an integrated end-to-end solution, enhancing customer services, business lifecycle management, and operational activities for sales intermediaries, while also offering a digital front-end for branch employees.

1. At the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) 2024, Aishwarya Rai Bachhan stood out as she received the Best Actress (critics) Award for her role in Maniratnam’s epic “Ponniyin Selvan 2” .

2. Bollywood star Alia Bhatt has officially changed her name, two years after her to actor Ranbir Kapoor. In the trailer of the show The Great Indian Kapil Show season 2, the actor revealed that she has added a Kapoor to her name.

3. Actress turned Politician, Kangana Ranaut’s solo directorial debut EMERGENCY movie is still awaiting a release date after its initial release was stalled due to censorship troubles.

She plays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi role in the Movie. It was scheduled to release on September 6, but its certification was withdrawn in the same week after objections from a Sikh group, who claimed that they aren’t being depicted in a fair light in her film.

4. Director SS Rajamouli is currently focused on his next film which features Telugu Superstar Mahesh Babu in the lead role. The film is undergoing extensive pre-production work currently and it is yet to be titled. Rajamouli has been keeping things under wraps and the team never responded to any speculation. As per the new update, the makers are in plans to launch the film in a grand manner during Dasara season.

1 In a relief to the Indian Air Force (IAF), the first production Tejas Mk-1A jet, which has seen delays of several months, will be delivered by the end of October 2024. The jet, initially contracted to be delivered by March 2024, only took its first flight that month, and now the delivery has been extended to October.2

2. An order passed by the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) staying the recovery of the commuted portion of pension of defence personnel by the government has been put on hold by the High Court. Next hearing on 11 December 2024.

Several retired defence personnel had moved the AFT’s Principal Bench, averring that restoration of commuted portion of pension must be by 12 years and that the authorities seeking to restore commuted pension after 15 years was arbitrary.

3. Squadron Leader Mohana Singh has made history as the first female fighter pilot in the country to be cleared to fly the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas fighter jet. She was the first woman fighter pilot to be inducted into the fighter squadron approximately eight years ago.

4. The Indian Army has released the merit lists for SSC Tech 63 and SSCW Tech 34 courses, scheduled for October 2024. These lists are highly anticipated by candidates who have applied for the Short Service Commission (SSC) Tech entry in the Indian Army. Both courses are avenues for young men and women to serve the nation as officers in the Indian Army.
