1. In 🇦🇪UAE, The Indian community celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor across multiple venues. Flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural performances, and official addresses marked the occasion at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum wished India on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day.

2. In 🇧🇭Bahrain, the Indian Embassy celebrated Independence Day. The Indian community members gathered at the embassy premises for the flag-hoisting ceremony, presided over by Ambassador Vinod K. Jacob.

3. In 🇳🇵Nepal, the Ambassador Naveen Srivastava hoisted the national flag at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, followed by playing of video address to the Nation of President Droupadi Murmu.

4. The annual India Day Parade in New York city will feature four floats representing the nation’s religions and symbolising its unity in diversity. The 42nd edition of the parade is scheduled to take place on Sunday. As per the organising team, the floats will represent Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism and Christianity. On the occasion, the Empire State Building will be lit with the Indian tri-colour at night. Indian actor Zaheer Iqbal will attend event as VIP guest.

5. External Affairs Minister, Dr S Jaishankar will be on an official visit to 🇰🇼Kuwait on the 18th of this month. During the visit, Dr Jaishankar will meet his counterpart, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya.

6. The 78th Independence Day of India was celebrated by the High Commission of India in 🇧🇩Bangladesh yesterday. High Commissioner, Pranay Verma unfurled the national flag and read out excerpts from the President’s Address to the Nation.

7. The violence in Bangladesh found a mention in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address, where he expressed hope for a swift return to peace and stability in the neighbouring country.

8. 🇲🇻Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu extended congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, and the people of India on the occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day.Further, he highlighted the enduring friendship between the two nations, which has contributed to prosperity and development in the Maldives and the region.

1. 🇹🇭Thailand’s Populist Pheu Thai Party said it will nominate its party leader, Paetongtarn Shinawatra
as Thailand’s New PM. She will become Thailand’s second Woman Prime Minister, and the country’s third leader from the Shinawatra family after her father and her aunt Yingluck Shinawatra.

2. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared mpox a global public health emergency for the second time in two years. The health emergency declaration came following an outbreak of the viral infection in the Democratic Republic of Congo which subsequently spread to neighbouring countries including 🇧🇮Burundi, 🇰🇪Kenya, 🇷🇼Rwanda and 🇺🇬Uganda.

3. The 🇺🇸US Navy has introduced the AIM-174B, an extremely long-range air-to-air missile, in the Indo-Pacific, aiming to counter China’s aerial dominance. This deployment is part of a broader strategy to enhance US power projection as tensions in the region escalate.

4. A 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck 34 km (21.13 miles) off Taiwan’s eastern city of Hualien on Friday.

5. Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal has started an investigation against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and nine others on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity that took place from July 15 to August 5 during students’ mass movement against her government.

6. A team of United Nations experts will visit Bangladesh next week to investigate the killings of the protesters ahead of and in the aftermath of Sheikh Hasina’s resignation as the prime minister last week.
