1. Tokyo Paralympic 2020: 54 athletes to represent India in 9 sports disciplines at Tokyo Paralympics beginning from Aug 24. Let’s Cheer up for Indian Paralympic team. Tokyo Paralympics scheduled to be held between 24 August and 5 September 2021.
2. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will felicitate the Olympians from the Services at the Army Sports Institute (ASI), Pune on 24 Aug (Tuesday). All the Armed Forces personnel, who represented India in the recently-concluded Tokyo Olympics, including Gold medalist Javelin Thrower Subedar Neeraj Chopra are likely to be present on the occasion.
3. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has congratulated Shaili Singh on winning the Silver medal at World Athletics Under-20 Championships, Nairobi. she registered a jump of 6.59 metres in the long jump event final.
4. Amit Khatri bags silver medal in men’s 10,000-meter race walk at World Athletic U-20 championships in Nairobi. He finished with a time of 42 minutes 17.94 seconds.
5. Rafael Nadal announced that he will not be competing for the rest of the 2021 tennis season, including the upcoming US Open.
Nadal said he is giving himself some time off to recover from a foot injury that has been troubling him.
6. 10 Punjab schools renamed after Olympic medallist hockey players: School education and public works minister Vijay Inder Singla on Sunday said the state government has named 10 schools after Olympic medal winner hockey players.
